The more you try and talk/be like someone else the more awkward you will make it.

Just talk to them like regular people, you know them.. they are your friends.. so just talk as you normally do and get them to focus on each other.

It takes time and practice to find your groove... it is fine having some inspiration on what you want before you go.. but it can be crippling as well.

Pressure is all put on by yourself, its for free.. they are getting a gift out of it.. no harm no foul.

Locations wise there are heaps... Abbotsford (Quarrantine Park), Bradleys Head, Nielsen Park Vaucluse, Callan Park Rozelle, Ballast Point Park in Balmain, Cockatoo Island, Hunters Hill.

It depends on the look you want, where you live, how far you want to travel.

The couple are more-often-than-not more terrified than you. Have you ever been photographed before knowingly?

My trick to having comfortable clients is to be comfortable with myself. Fake it till you make it.

Yeah i have, when i got my own engagement photos done.

Come to think of it, i think it helps the couple relax when the photographer directs or guides them. One good trick was to 'whisper something naughty in his/her ear'. I guess the photographer should be taking advantage of the in between moments too, when the reactions etc are more candid.

Was pretty awkward to begin with but from memory the photographer did a good job.

Thanks for the advice deftones + dche, will take on board.

Those are the queues you go with... but has to come naturally from you or its just weird. Half of photographing people when you are in direct contact (and not just candid shooting a room) is being able to gauge how they are going.

If you have had photos taken of yourself already, you should remember what was ok and what felt weird. Its always awkward for the first 10mins.. I tell all my couples that.

The ones that arent awkward are just so comfortable with each other you dont even need to talk to them.

Not really, tho I can link you to some who are (and maybe occasionally visit OCAU).

Cheap flights are kind of breaking down the barriers for travel within Australia these days

Queensland is a big state huh? Might need to be a bit more specific.

Just did my first ever engagement photo shoot, with friends. Couple was awesome, and so natural.

I am still buzzing with excitement. Had so much fun. Rain started belting down halfway through golden hour but i got what i needed.

    Pretty chuffed!

Oops yeah.... South east QLD in particular Brisbane or Ipswich

Edit: I'm looking to start advertising my services as a photographer in the next few months just wanted to talk to some of the local guys & girls.

What insurance company are you guys using for public & product liability and are you going for $5mil or $10mil?
