    As much as I like to support a local brick and mortar store sometimes the savings just too big to buy local.

    Picked up an Aune T1 SE from here and have a set of HE4XX on the way.

    This will be my first set of anything that isn't a sub $80 gaming headset plugged into the PC.

    Nice! Shit going to blow your mind then haha. Sit back and realise how many more sounds are in songs you didn't realise. You will literally hear things you didn't before. Stuff isn't just better, there is also more stuff :p

    Whatever his favourite music is!

    I find Dreams by Fleetwood Mac a good song to show off cans. So clearly recorded and produced, good tune.

    Will check it out.

    I have to agree with your favourite music - for me it is FLAC's but then you can get some good recordings in high quality in Youtube from time to time with some Acoustics to give you a good idea - Wish you were here, for example;

    Late Edit: here is something for the bass;

    Anything Steely Dan wins it for me. Aja and Gaucho are particularly good. Also, Donald Fagen's Nightfly album....

    There are some awesome sessions in there to assess the range and capacity of gear. Very raw and with something decent you can note the capacity....................

    Nice, I'm enjoying those cans. Always been a Beyer man, but that deal was pretty damn good to try out the Hifiman. Not regretting it! 4 weeks delivery is rubbish though. Massdrop need to give DHL the bullet.

    The sad thing is the package arrived in Australia yesterday after being picked up on the 15th but I would not be that surprised if it took them another three weeks to deliver. Or do what they did last time and the guy clearly just forgot to take my package up when he delivered something else on the same floor, then dumped my package at the news agent and market it as attempted delivery - apparently breezing past the door is attempted delivery.

    I really try never to be subjective - but this will test your cans for mids to highs (IMHO) and be fucking awesome in the process;

    I don't know much about desk amps/DACs, so can you guys please recommend me a cheap(ish) DAC or desktop amp I can use with my laptop dock at work. I know you can get portables, but I am not sure if that's a better choice than something I can just leave at work all the time. My dock is just a simple thinkpad dock, has USB, USB-C or 3.5mm out. As for what it will be driving, I might just use my AD700s as I'm going to upgrade my home headphones, but maybe I'll just grab some cheap DT770 Pros for the office instead, so I can listen to stuff a little bit louder. Thanks

    Thanks, that looks ideal.. small enough to carry around too if I wanted to.
    If you have any experience, how does it compare to larger units that would sit on the desk? The ones the size of a laptop dock?
    Cheers

    It's OK but nothing spectacular to write home about. Certainly can compare with some similar or lower priced desk units but this is basic level stuff. It will be alright but some of the SMSL stuff on ebay are better for less. Not as portable though.

    Depends on what you want. To run some AD700 , it's perfect.

    If you can stretch to $450-500, get a used Chord Mojo or Oppo HA2SE. Better, more power, can run most cans and batteries so you can run from phone too. Amazing devices.
