I've been a bit out of the loop. Seems like the locals have consolidated and fallen... Where do people go these days?
Yeh ausgamers isn't too bad, it's gotten better over the years imo. Kitguru.net is another site I personally use.
I regularly check Rock Paper Shotgun, it’s a PC focused site. Also read a bit of Waypoint, Polygon and Kotaku.
RPS are a bit slow on the uptake. I use a mix of Destructoid, Kotaku, Polygon, PC Gamer and RPS. OP do yourself a favour and grab a news reader like feedly for your mobile device and subscribe to them all that way. Feedly also works on a PC. https://feedly.com and if you cbf'd reading may i suggest subbing to the the following youtube channels. Spawn Wave - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoIXnB865l9Ex9zs4OIXTdQ The Know - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4w_tMnHl6sw5VD93tVymGw ACG - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK9_x1DImhU-eolIay5rb2Q (more reviews than anything)
100% agreed. I pay for "The Old Reader" (free for up to 100 subscriptions, pay for more, based on the design of Google Reader before Google shut it down): https://theoldreader.com/ And it both works fine on a mobile web browser, but also supports lots and lots of mobile apps: https://theoldreader.com/pages/apps
Kotaku, RPS, YouTube vids to see frame rates for my GPU if I'm interested, don't mind a laugh at some YT channels like "Before You Buy".
The internet hasn't been the same since Google Reader disappeared. Thanks for the suggestions, will check them out. Actually got a little project in mind I might start fleshing out this weekend... I really lament the dearth of old-school content! I don't like quantity over quality that you see on sites like gizmodo/kotaku with multiple stories an hour going up.
Same as news sites and TV news, everything is given 30 seconds of coverage, no real in-depth analysis. The young of today drive this behaviour, they have a hard time concentrating on one thing for any longer than that...
I think it's more they get more clicks by gaming the algorithms - more content = higher google rating. But it's not great content.
I did click that link the other day - looks great! Just a pity there's not much good content to fill it with. 3FL... Didn't that disappear in to GON when iinet bought internode? And then TPG killed GON.
