    Happy to share the recipe if you want to give it a go yourself

    14L juice (scale this whichever way you need)
    1 11g Philly Sour yeast
    1.5kg of raspberries in secondary ferment

    More reason to go and read the homebrew sticky. :)

    Friend of mine used to make some wicked hard ciders.
    A hard lemonade and an Apple/Raspberry were his best products.

    Nice head on it, I'd definitely like to have a go at that!
    Pale ales seem to be a good choice for home brewers.

    Heading briefly off-topic, I had a look at the Cheeky Peak website and noticed that they also carry BBQ equipment and home cheesemaking/preserving supplies.
    Bought myself a dual-probe meat thermometer for $35 w/ free shipping as I've needed one for ages, so thanks for that. :)
    Interested to try making my own cheese, but might start with a basic homebrew setup first.

    Amazing what a proper glass will do. My aldi glasses have been shitting me so bought 24 headmasters on the ebay sale. Magnificent.

    CP are getting out of the bbq gear so don't hold out for anything to come back into stock.

    I love having them local though my wallet doesn't

    Really? I've hated the invasion into the industry of headmasters :/

    They're literally a glass designed to artificially change head retention, to suit the mass market breweries. Have never liked serving my own brews in them, if I wanted extra head retention I'd have brewed it in

    You have a valid point which I'm not disputing. I personally prefer the headmaster as an amateur brewer that hasn't chased brewing with specific grains to achieve excellent head retention qualities. I prefer paying under $3.50 a glass when they accidentally get smashed. I prefer the feel of the pub if you may.

    Gotta be honest, I've never really thought much about how the specific glass affects this, although I can see how it might.
    Is it that big of a deal?

    Quadbox , what's your preferred glass for serving a beer without "artificial head retention"?
    Long/tall glass?

    For myself, day to day, when not making an effort, most of the time I'll use a stemless red wine glass. Same shape as reidel o-series cabernet glasses, though naturally I dont use anything that expensive or fragile day to day, just a bunch of different cheapies of roughly the same shape I've accumulated hither and thither.

    I've got a wide range of glasses for different styles of beer that I'd bother selecting between if I were entertaining or drinking something that really needs the right glass (Like the big belgian abbey beers, or big imperial stouts, where a goblet or even a brandy balloon's ideal, to get all those aromas happening). And then I've got all the spiegelau ones too, and the IPA ones in particular I'll get out if it warrants how much of a pain in the arse they are to clean :p

    Went in and got my usual mercury raspberry 6 pack. Also picked up a couple of "pink rhino" raspberry, gin & sparkling water on the specials bench for $3 a can on a whim. $2 a can off normal price. Not bad. Doesn't have much sugar in it so it's a pretty clean taste. Other thing I tried was brookvale union ginger beer, which is the best of the ginger beers I've tried in recent memory. Other ones have had a weird harshness or odd taste but this was perfect.

    Yeah that is a solid ginger beer, I still probably prefer Lick Pier ginger beer, but the Brookvale would come in a close second for me.

    Fucking ghastly stuff in my opinion, same for everyone I know who has tasted it. :lol:
    The raspberry isn't bad, but the Hard Apple is the best imho.

    10pc Fridge Pack of Somersby Pear at the right price for me today.
    Discussion makes me want to give some Ginger Beer a go next time I go up the road.
