    Hello guys.
I was having a discussion with a friend on what the most popular/best digital SRL camera is.

I was suggesting Canon but he wanted to hear nothing of it.
In his mind, Nikon was the most popular camera, because it was the best.

    Help me out guys.

    Popularity is easy.

    OCAU Stats

    'Nuff said ...

You've got to be a little bit careful of what you're actually talking about though. Canon is far and away the most popular, but that still doesn't necessarily mean it's the "best". That's a much more subjective area!

Oh no! *heads to the bunker to avoid what is certainly the start of another pointless brand war*

I voted Canon SLR. I'm happy with it. I'm sure if I had a Nikon instead I'd be just as happy too. Meh.

I am not really wanting a bashing thread. I just want to see what peoples personal opinions are. If they like their camera, or if the do not.

I hope it does not turn into a sledging match.

*edit* I did not see the OCAU stats for the digital cameras. Sorry guys.

I have a Nikon D50 as my first camera ever :D and I'm loving it.

Before this turns into a sledge war let me say this:
The camera doesn't make a decent photographer, the person behind it does.

This is pretty much the same principle for pretty much everything.

Hope this calms people down a bit :D

20D user here, and will most likely be a canon user for the rest of my life, considering i've invested quite a bit on the lenses, i don't plan on changing anytime soon.

I don't know why brand bashing exists. All cameras at this level are good.

Anyway, Canon here but I just helped my boss choose Nikon.

It's expensive to change brands once you've got a DSLR ;-)
When you've got a few lenses, it makes much more sense to upgrade a body and stay with the same brand, so you can re-use your lenses with the new body.

    Cheers,
    Martin.
