what motherboard for an i5 2500k overclock?

as title states i can spend up to 120~ but preferably not more than that, i did a little bit of searching but most of the ones i found aren't sold at umart anymore. Also another question as well what CPU coolers are mostly recommended? i was looking into getting a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO but wanted your thoughts. thanks.

 

You can't buy a new s1155 board anymore from anywhere, other than a B75 or H61 board, which won't OC. At least not for that price anyway. There may be a few high end NOS boards on eBay, but they are often a lot more than $120

For a CPU cooler, go with a Hyper 212

put it up in the WTB threads. You will find one. And yea ebay used is more or less the only way

 

as fir the 212 Evo..Its a fairly good cooler for the price but is a pain in the ass to install. I have a NZXT Havik 140 and I rate it very highly for overclocking my 2500k

I've installed them lots of times and they couldn't be simpler

 

Im assuming Op is somewhat new to the 212 for aftermarket cooling seeing as he asked here in the first place..The included manual is rubbish and it is NOT a very easy install. Maybe me and hundreds of other people who have posted in forums about the unnecessarily tricky install were simply wrong.

 

Using an AsRock extreme 7 gen 3 here, pretty easy to overclock with and had no troubles pushing my 2600k to 5.1ghz on water. There was one for sale on here recently pretty cheap

 

Having used a 212+ and a 212 Evo many, many times, I don't think it's difficult to install at all. All of them are confusing the first time you install them, as I remember the manual not being too easy to follow.

That being said, it'll be more complicated than a push-pin or AMD clip-on heatsink, but you get the performance from the extra minute or so taken to install it.
