Wife still uses my old XPS15 from about 8 years ago. It's had RAM, SSD and battery upgrades since new, but it's still a very sprightly machine.

I reckon collaboratively we would have earnt enough to buy a house using that laptop.

I keep trying to upgrade her, but she's just not that interested.

Oh, upgraded the old lappy, it's now got 32gb ram :D

The only thing i wish for in this W520 is a nice graphics card.

Recently I moved houses and un-earthed my Sony Mz-RH1 MiniDisc player was pretty nostalgic listening to my play lists of 2005 haha

    HP Compaq from 2006?
    Centrino duo T770 I think.
Had XP originally, now has 8.1.
    4GB ram and 128GB SSD.
Boots in under 10 seconds and similar shut down.

Does everything I need it to do (email, YouTube, light spreadsheet work etc) better than a new Celeron or AMD A series on Win 10.

Weights about 10 Kg (slight hyperbole) - no need for gym, but battery, SSD, ram etc easy to upgrade (no need to completely disassemble the laptop just to change battery!) and no-one in their right mind would steal it.

Still have and occasionally use a 2001 vintage Toshiba laptop (no idea what model/specs, it doesn't get used frequently these days).

Why? It still has a real serial port on it. and some devices just won't work with a USB-serial adapter.
