I'm adopting a "brother" for my dog. I don't like his orphanage name and need to pick out something for him. He's a small, chihuahua-y looking crossbreed, tricolour (mainly black), with quite a long tail.

I like regular people names, with any other names as nicknames rather than their proper name.

    On my list I've got
    Alfred
    Douglas
    Erik
    Ned (Edward or Edwin)
    Charles
    Arthur

Any other suggestions? As he's probably got chihuahua in him, something hispanic maybe? Manuel?

I've never seen Bill and Ted :o
hahaha. I should say that because he'll only have a little collar and tag, it needs to be a short-ish name so it'll fit on the tag in a reasonable-sized font.

He's an adult and nobody would dare tease my dog.

His namesake doesn't seem very nice.

I like people names too. I wanted to call my dog Phillip, but I lost that one. It's a pity, he looks like such a Phillip. I think Kevin is also a great name for a dog.

I also like Arthur and Charles. Good royal names. Henry is nice too.

Thanks, I got my mum to name her budgie Phillip, so it's sort of already "taken". I don't like Kevin because it reminds me of that big crybaby Kevin Rudd. I was also thinking of Albert, I could call him Bertie, or Robert, he could be bob, bobby, robbie, bertie, Robert (with a french accent), but he doesn't really seem like a Robert....

Pick a name that's short and sharp off the tongue... so when they are doing the wrong thing you can bellow their name quickly.

    Max
    Sid
    Dug
    Sam
    Rex

    names not to pick...

    snookims
    princess

    you get the idea...

I've always liked Drongo for a dogs name, but I think it belongs to a bigger goofier breed. Still, entertaining for all ages.

Knew a guy who called his dog Deefer... it took me a little while to click and realised it was "d-for dog"

Might not have been his idea, but it got a laugh out of me.
