I bought an Phenom II chip and would like to know my serial number, but I threw away the box already. How can I get this using software?

I don't think the serial number is embedded within the processor itself but can be found on the IHS if you don't have the box.

Thanks. Don't want to remove the cooler though and redo the thermal paste so won't enter that AMD competition.

Definatly not for AMD or Intel (anymore).

Only the Pent III ever returned S/N in software if you enabled it to do so in BIOS (some might remember seing the option back in the day!)
