What's up with Vegemite? Seriously...

What's the difference???? it's soo easy to tell the difference, though i am probably weird, seeing that i used to hate Pepsi, yet drink Coke by the litre.

 

Marmite is not as bitter as vegemite. Its like a low strength vegemite.

 

Never had vegemite until when I was 18. Love it.

 

I found a richer one, heres my recipe:

Take 5 jars of Blackmores B Complex tablets.
Pour contents of jars into mortar and grind to a powder -- alternatively you could use a blender/food processor/angle grinder.
Add water and stir to form a paste.
Spread on thick white bread (toasted or untoasted).
"Enjoy."

 

VEGEMITE is bloody awesome... read this thread and went and ate 2 bits of toast with it.. does anyone else like.. butter, vegemite then peanut butter? I love it...

vegemite is fucking awesome.

 

Ilove vegemite and I too use to eat it with a spoon when I was a kid, but now I like it either on toast or fresh bread. Both with real butter and a thin layer of vegemite not too much or it gets a bit overpowering.

Thick, thin or the tiniest little drop..cant stand the stuff.
Hate it when somebody makes me [usually peanut butter] toast and butters it with a knife they just used to spread vegimite. Ruins my whole day.

Moral of the story: Make your own damn toast.

You know, here they got "Kit Kat Chunky with Peanut Butter" (Oh my god they ruined it), so I wouldn't be surprised if the next one is "Kit Kat Chunky with Vegemite"

I like the little vegemite-and-crackers snack packs you get at the store. Not too crazy about it on toast. BTW, I am American and yes I do spread it 'extremely thinly'...

I think it's made from like, an otherwise waste product which is made when they brew beer.

I think it's a cultural thing. IMO People who have a long aust family history which spawns from english / scottish / irish etc roots tend to take more to vegemite than people who come from elsewhere. That, and/or the face that aussie kids grow up with it. It is an acquired taste. Could be wrong though.

 

Vegemite is like drinking vodka - more than a little will knock you out.
