Whats your personal tech load-out?

I'm a Powershell Dev. I have YouTube based pursuits which are not work related, hence the filming and editing stuff

After many years of wanting "top of the line" gear, I have decided to buy only want I need. I was always a couple series behind so that I get good gear second hand. I prefer to buy from here, when I can, as new gear is not a good investment. I don't play games and have turned more towards programming and networking.

I am slowly scaling down what I have as my needs are becoming much more meager as time goes on, I could probably run an i3 or 2200/2400 quite happily as, as mentioned, most of my computing is done on the phone. The laptop is borderline for my needs, but hasn't missed a beat.

Phone wise, I usually use it for communication, scheduling, navigation, youtube, browsing, forums, calls, photos, notes, email, podcasts, kindle - the main stuff I do on pcs these days anyhow

 

My game playing has dropped down to almost nothing since having kids. At the moment the only gaming I do is Retro gaming with the kids. My load-out is as below lots less physical machines then 5+ years ago but the ESXi server just lets me fire up a virtual server when ever I need new resources.

Desktop for gaming and working from home (upgraded regularly)

That's pretty much all I really use on a daily basis, I'm not really a gadget man as you can tell my by attitude towards upgrading my mobile devices, if it works as I want it to work for five years so be it, to be honest I find the process of replacing this equipment more of an inconvenience than anything else.

 

To get my job done? An ultrabook and a phone is generally enough.

What do I like to have?

Got my desktop with grunt / Hyper-V duties if I want to spin up a mini lab.
iPad and apple pencil for note taking / entertainment when I'm travelling.
Nexus 5x phone for phone stuff, I'll update it when it no longer gets any updates.
Headphones

I also have a lenovo Miix 510 I have somewhat retired as I don't use so much.

 

i have been cutting down on tech, selling off excess PCs and stuff now i just have:
main PC; 1050Ti, 16GB ram, i7, 512gb ssd, 1tb ssd, asus predator(?) 34" ultra wide (100hz?), 1080P asus 24" 144hz
laptop; 1050Ti, 16GB ram, i7, 256gb ssd, 1tb mechanical
linux pc: C2D, 128gb ssd, 4gb ram, 7800GT, 1080p (runs super quick actually)
Galaxy S6, i don't know why i keep going back to samsung, the phones don't seem reliable at all past 2 years, this one's 3 and the USB port is broken, if i use more than 25% of the 128gb it runs slow as shit and it's full of bloatware. apparently facebook is a system app now and can't be removed.

haha i always have an expensive high speed USB that no one else touches and a bunch of cheap "family and friends" ones that were $8 or so. i think with SSD portable drives though i will soon stop using the traditional USB sticks for myself.

• QCY19 earbuds. Great devices, keep buying and losing them but at least they're relatively cheap.

Mostly PC with android phone as expected, many people slimming down too selling off thier HTPCs and such.

Just bought myself an iPad pro, my first apple device since 3GS. It does not talk to any devices I currently own which is kind of good in a way. I bought it as a stand alone productivity device for note taking, organisation and light travelling. I must say ios app store aint what it used to be, fucking rubbish compared to google playstore.

What are your best apps for the ipad pro? im finding it hard to use my apple pencil apart from taking notes.

 

its great for on the go photo editing, even using small video editing apps. Its also a finger replacement lol, i hate getting the screen dirty so i find i use the pencil for almost everything. Pair it with the apple keyboard and its almost a laptop replacement.

Ok so I got my Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 on Tuesday - Geez it's incredible for the money. Huge bang for few bucks.

 

My gear is mainly in my sig, as well as an iPad Pro 12.9" for watching videos and drawing, I currently have a lightly cracked iPhone 7 which I'm waiting for the right replacement to come along.
Most of my gear is audio stuff though, so I have Oppo PM3's with an HA2 for portable audio, then an SMSL M8A hooked up to an Aune X7S at home driving HiFiMAN HE4XX's.
Currently looking for a good Dac/Amp combo I can use at LAN's so I don't have to use onboard (which the HiFiMan's struggle with).

I still haven't joined to smart watch craze, I still use my Skagen titanium watch which is still too classy and perfect that I don't have any urge to replace it.
I still run a single PC, but it's ITX with a 24" monitor so it is pretty portable, and the iPad does most of the Laptoppy things I need it to.

Gonna be upgrading phone, adding a second monitor at home and getting another Dac/Amp for portable use, and might get a Nintendo Switch for on the go gaming.
