I'd love to get fibre run through the place, but I think it's just too damn hard without massive damage. It's a 3 storey townhouse. As existing cabling is all bundled together and tied inside the walls I can't simply use the existing links to pull new cables through etc.. I think I'd just have to rip open walls. I have no idea where the connection between floors goes etc; I got the plans from the council but it's nowhere near that detailed. Maybe if we ever renovate. edit: With that said, if I was getting the place cabled from scratch I'd 100% run fibre alongside copper so then I can choose best solution for each space. My CRS326 arrives tomorrow so anything in the garage that's 1G can be moved onto that, and all the 10G/multigig can stay on the CRS312, and then I think my network is complete.. until I replace the next thing So far I've hit things with 1TB of data in iperf, hasn't dropped a ping. So either I managed to damage the uplink cable for the switch when I swapped my desktop PC's connection to fibre the other day or I was right on the edge that the Mikrotik SFP would accept but the FlyPro wouldn't at that length. Maybe that was part of the reason for the insane temperature.
