    Hey guys

I have been with telstra for a while on there cable plans, The deals at the moment are pretty poor but i am wondering whether to stay with them or not? I would love to get 100mbit but does anybody know when telstra may be revamping their cable plans?

Also i am pretty interested to see what other users here are getting in terms of speed. I seem to be maxing out the 30mbit connection.

    Cheers,

be lucky you get their 30mbit plan...

I'm in perth, on the extreme liberty, and I'm still on their 18mb/s rate...

When you are prepared to pay $150/gb over your huge 12gb limit.

I do realise the excess usage charges are way overpriced, this is the reason why I am on their liberty extreme plan (25gb then shaped to 64k)

I don't mind getting shaped, considering we have DSL2 as well for downloading,

cable offers the lower latency for gaming and stability (very very rarely 'drops')

By end of year for Melbourne.

Telstra lab testing for Docsis 3.0 has been showing it's capable of 130mbps down and 25mbps+ up. Retail plans will be shaped to 100/2 though apparently.

I think he's just stating that he gets better latency with cable - which is generally true (especially when hitting any Telstra servers)

What sort of latency do cable users get with a default sized ping to a host within their ISP's network, just out of interest?

Single digit pings on Telstra's GameArena servers are fairly typical for me. So too is consistently exceeding the rated "maximum" speeds - I can obtain 40-45Mbps streaming downloads from Telstra servers.

I can't wait for 100Mbps to be introduced in Sydney. I ain't going anywhere tho - I can't get DSL in my area so there's no competition...

Same with me, mine looks rated up to 20 but I consistantly get around 25.
