Costs way more to maintain and has no where near the performance of fiber.
HFC is very limited in what you can do with it, fiber is not...
Internet is such a fukn rip off. Below is adsl2+ Telstra 20mb connection. Gets no where near fukn 20mb/s, fuck, it doesn't even make 8mb/s yet they charge me for a 20mb/s connection. Rip off merchants
i think you misunderstood me.
it WILL cost less to maintain per-person.
reason, fiber is going to be higher due to it passing lightly populated regions of australia. where as HFC only passes the most populated urban areas.
HFC can do the job for most of australians, if all they want is internet...
Its a ripoff because you are with telstra ..where you live exactly?...how far away from exchange? It the speed is that slow, you mise as well look for a cheaper adsl 1 or 2 plan maybe...
Looking at your ping am guessing you are on DSL.
dsl never has/had a guaranteed speed, so dont complain.
No idea why the ping is so high. DSL? what you mean?
what is your line sync? you cant blame telstra for a low sync rate
This is mine
no idea how I got 0 ms ping.
Telstra cable. 25gb download limit but the extra speed is fantastic.
Nice speeds man!
25gb download limit... that's so stupid but damn that's a fast connection, unlimited uploads? How much per month?
Not unlimited uploads...
I have a friend who works for cisco (handy for borrowing a switch for lan party's) an he said they are providing a lot of gear for the 100mbit which means its started.
Other then a CMTS, what HFC gear does cisco make?
If this is true then thats good news .
I wasn't sure it was definitely going ahead yet....
I have not been following this 100mb stuff & new to the strange ways of Australian broadband so excuse my ignorance but...Where I live a massive 22km from Melbourn CBD I can only get ADSL1 so does this Telstra thing mean I will be able to get decent speeds here or is it only for people currently getting ADSL2?
Could possibly mean they are going to or they are not sure so they might not have started.
This wont have any effect on your speeds unfortunately. The 100mbt upgrade is only for exsisting cable networks so if your not in an area with telstra cable atm you wont be able to get it .
