Thought since some people find it hard to find good retro gear cheap it might be a good idea to list items up for fellow members. I know we have a giveaway thread but this is for items not belonging to members. Hope this is allowed. Anyways here is a great tualatin mATX combo for nix; http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/221830988286?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Good idea for a thread. I usually look at Vogons, but a thread with Australian specific deals is better. I snapped up that motherboard. I seem to have a huge amount of issues with Tualatin boards dying, including ones I've paid too much for.
Nice buy that one, made by Lite-On I believe. Shield is too modern but a stock early ATX shield will fit. 512MB PC133 and a 1.4GHz Celeron which usually cost the same as the lot together. Glad an OCAU member got it.
+ 1, good thread idea. Very timely for me personally too Umm, I don't have any bargains to post right now.
While I reckon this CPU will work, the listing brings up a sore point I have with eBay - sellers listing something as "Used" but then saying it's untested so no warranty/returns. It should be listed for Parts/Not Working. I have been ripped off by someone selling retro items lately (not this seller) - sold two 5.25" drives as Used, but untested no returns yadda yadda. He posted half a dozen pics of the drives, showing all sides of the drives except this: The other drive was also rusted badly on the top. It powered up but wouldn't seek. There was no way it would have worked, testing wasn't really required to prove it. While this could have given me a Significantly Not As Described claim, I didn't want to upset the apple cart too much (bought other drives from him) plus it would have been 2kg postage back to him. He did give me a partial refund, but was a complete tighta**e about it. Just a heads up to other retro hunters out there!
good tip, i try to be as honest as possible about things when i sell them but others are just assholes trying to rip people off.
I kinda like this circa 1999 "server" case for some reason: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/281483187100 It's annoying, but most "retro" parts on eBay are listed like this (even those sold by OCAUers). I've bought a few CPUs from that seller (chookster46) and they've all been fine.
Any of you guys after 8mm tape drives? Found 25 still sealed in the wrappers in my granddad's storage after he clocked out. Drives are Exabyte Exatape 160mXL. I have no idea how old these are other than they are copyrighted as 1994, so definitely retro gear!

Guys want a shot @ Alloy Thermaltake & 480 Watt Psu Auction end after midnight. Pickup North Melbourne. Collectible in future, you heard it here first http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/131564076977
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Philips-...CRT-Monitor-/131568907830?hash=item1ea21e3636 19" Philips CRT just north west of Melbourne - $20 starting bid. Current CRT talk got me searching
LOL I have 12", 17" and 19" CRTs in storage, and can't afford the post on this one! Just thought maybe our Vic retro people would be keen and able to pickup Last year I won a Samsung 19" off eBay locally for $1, but the seller dropped out of communication so never picked it up ...
Not that much of a biggy. Interstate with ego $30-40 People shopping from computer shops spend that all the time on a box of parts. Either that OR await find one like it....................
probably depends on the CRT and 99% of people won't be aware that some of them ARE actually worth something - so in other words I don't believe the scumbag profiteers have figured out they have value.
