WTF is this thing, proof that Apple never started the craze of gaudy coloured computers - this turquoise XT is from 1988! https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Vintage...750255?hash=item2169c9bfaf:g:pGEAAOSwHfxeJ-Ju ... its definitely come from the factory like that, not a case mod
This seems like a decent buy if you are close to Penrith. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Retro-P...982671?hash=item3fd821068f:g:cm8AAOSwLAReDsgr I like these old Compaq cases. Pity he won't ship.
In instances like this where the seller say's they won't ship there's no harm in asking if they will if you arrange pickup. That is of course provided they have a box to ship it in. These days there a lot more options for the buyer to arrange a Courier to pick up an item from just about anywhere in Australia so this takes some of the hassle away for the seller.
Is it worth it? I am torn at the moment. No HD No CPU No matching keyboard or mouse Scratched up May not work No postage sounds like he doesn't want the hassle of being hit with that when you get a brick. Put in a dead CPU to "protect the socket" ??? At least this comes with a heatsink for it. I am getting a bit tired of buying a raided piece of hardware to just try and re-assemble it. This one is near my workplace, and I'm not in a rush. https://www.cnet.com/products/compaq-presario-2260-6x86mx-300-mhz-32-mb-2-1-gb-crt-14/ I dunno maybe.. $20. I am fond of old Compaq and IBM's. This one is meant to have a MII processor in it. Again I have an affinity for the Cyrix CPu's, remembering back to my 6x86 166+. While this one is close to me, I look at what $20-$50 gets you in Victoria or QLD and you basically can get a great all together setup for that.
Come on, you know you want to. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Vintage...New/324039278328?_trksid=p2504926.m5232.l9681
I was going to say that the turquoise XT would look nice next to a Barbie or Hot Wheels PC. This is a sign.
Turquoise XT should fetch a good price - considering it was a business machine (assumed due to basic office XT specs), who would have wanted that on their woodgrained desk in the day? I had one of those Hot Wheels PCs, horribly cheap machines.
