Sadly this is a limitation of the technology. Nothing you can do.
Great looking $100 reserve (or make an offer) 486 desktop with CDROM and soundcard. Victoria of course, but will post.
EDIT: Pics show this has a CT3930 AWE32 installed. This is worth $100 alone!
Nice PC. Actually more interesting than a 486, it's an early Pentium (90MHz?) on a Socket 5 American Megatrends Atlas PCI motherboard.
I'm not sure why this didn't click with me. I clearly saw the PCI slot in the photos.
I wonder what video card it has. There are no clear pics unfortunately.
That makes the listing an interesting condundrum. Much more power in the Pentium, but much more market appeal in the 486... wonder how the winner will feel if they don't realise until they get it.
Last pic, Pentium 90mhz.
I was lazy looking at it too, that bios screen looks just like the one on my 486. It has pci slots too.
buy it and then ebay dispute the 'not as described' ....
but no one here would be that much of a dick-wad i hope
I'm pretty sure this is the video card.
That's what I see. Pic not showing.
EDIT, I looked up a picture, alpine pci video card. Shows a cirrus logic with 1mb memory with another 1mb upgrade slots.
Same picture my search showed. Matches the colour and size in the ebay ad too.
So who's going to make an offer? That sure is a sexy motherboard. Will need the Dallas RTC module replacing though.
Hell yea it is, and I have the chips to upgrade it to 512k cache too. However yea, Postage is an unknown and I'm too lazy to find out.
If it wasn't for border restrictions due to the pandemic, who's up for an OCAU Retro trip to NZ?
shredder how far are you from this?
Onehunga eh? I'd wager something we can get for like $40 will be a onehunga. Prices will be top end gold plated.
Ha, interesting. It's about 500km from me, on the other island - damn this long country! - so it'd be a Hobart to Melbourne equivalent sort of trip. The plane might be a bit too heavy on the way back
Pilot: "some kind of... incredibly heavy object... is dragging us down...!".
Doesn't Vanne work in aviation? Maybe he can arrange a charter flight for the OCAU group buy...
Most of it will end up on ebay for twice what it sold for.
Twins together at last.
