Just a warning if anyone bought one of these, I got two with the intention to use one in a 486 with an adapter (it has -5v as well as the relatively beefy 3.3v + 5v).

Opened it up for a look - both have at least one bulging Teapo capacitor sadly. The rest physically look okay, but realistically I'd say they'd require a full recap for reliable/safe use.

Yep, I open up ALL old PSUs I see and do an internal inspection before powering them on. If I find any bloated caps, i typically replace all of the secondary side filter caps as 1 bad is generally an indicator that more will be on the way out.

International postage and taxes ruin the bargain, but this looks like it'd be a fun soundcard to try: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/184273082839

NOS, Opti chipset, real OPL3, dubious built in QDSP QS700 Wavetable all for $22.99pp USD.

Edit: Would end up being $70 AUD posted.

From memory it is the Vortex 2 chipset that is most desirable. Not exactly sure of the difference but I think the Vortex 2 takes more load off the CPU.

I've been seeing that pop up and was tempted initially but the chipset itself doesn't sound great based on some Vogons comments. I have a 2MB example of the QDSP QS1000 wavetable and it's great but I'm guessing that card has 512KB.

Anyway yes it does looking interesting and I'd love to try it out, but not for that money.

I've got one of those, and the balance between wavetable/fm and digital sound is a bit screwy, with FM being way too loud by default.

It isn't a terrible card, but ESS and Yamaha cards tend to be better, with lower noise floors and generally a bit more balanced outputs.

    What is "Import charges"?

In this example 38.2% presumably isn't GST

Feels more like an eBay scam

GST is on item price + shipping, so it's closer to 19%, but still dodgy.

I wanna try the lucky dip, but I already have too much retro junk and I'm afraid I'd just be adding to it. Without strong indication I'd get something I actually want with a lot, I'm gonna have to pass. Probably all just Geforce 4 MX-SE cards.

But I'm sure resellers will gobble it up, sort it and sell it individually for some profit.

100 + 40 postage is a bit steep, for 50 id be tempted to play that pokie machine

$100 would be fine if they showed a picture of what you're getting, but not doing that is setting yourself up for an eBay dispute.

I reckon you would be lucky to get any AGP cards, the seller only mentions PCI/PCI-Express in the listing. Not sure if that's an oversight or not. The whole thing is very dodgy indeed and I'm surprised Ebay even allow this.

Oh that's the guy I just got my Covox from. The vague, unorthodox listing is certainly on brand. Can confirm he delivers his mysteries with good service though.

This is actually more of a concern if he is selling some items separately. He will have cherry picked all the good stuff and sold it already, leaving you with a box full of 56kbps modems and whatnot.

As I said, boxes of Geforce 4 MX-SE cards :) They multiply in dark spaces.

Remember, help control control the cut-rate VGA adapter population. Have your Geforce MX card spayed or neutered.
