Ignore the inexplicable bitching and moaning - my eyes light up when I see that you've posted in this thread.

That 386 board looks like a reasonable deal but I don't find myself using my existing 386, so I'm going to resist.

    Thanks.

The days of Super Socket 7 boards for $12.95pp (2014) or NOS Nvidia FX5950 cards for $30pp (2016) are long gone, but the occasional genuine bargain pops up and the rest is still good to see in the wild.

486 PCI motherboard, Cyrix 5x86 CPU, RAM, Vibra16 sound card, PCI S3 VGA and some sort of ISA I/O card.

    $99 posted but untested: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/113647872550

The CPU alone is quite desirable. Worth a gamble IMO.

Check that battery corrosion. No thanks. No gamble at all, she's fucked.

Yeah, I've got a 486 motherboard with corrosion like that here.

It will be a bear to fix, so that one is going to the bottom of the repair pile. (might even toss it after scavenging the chips off it, BIOS, keyboard, cache, CPU). Kinda sad, because it is a VLB motherboard, and they don't grow on trees anymore, so to see any of them die is sad.

Did you look at the close up photos of both terminals of the battery? Doesn't look that bad to me. The tracks are intact and the keyboard connector pins aren't corroded.

    The board is definately filthy.

Look closer. All the tracks are stuffed.

I looked on my PC rather than my phone and you're right. Doesn't look good.

Nicely put. If the seller isn't a nobcake then they might be talked into selling that groovy Cyrix 586 + cards for a reasonable price.

Only nobcake would pay $100 for board in that condition when you can get boards in working condition for slightly more, eg at:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ZIDA-4D...h=item21533ff876:g:XT0AAOSww4JcXZym:rk:8:pf:0
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Lucky-S...=item215341b8a9:g:TxwAAOSw0VBcXdno:rk:10:pf:0

Sure, you can probably fix the Cyrix board, but it will take good soldering tools and probably a lot of time to do.
