If you can't run multiple basic applications on most Macbook model something must be going wrong.

I can run Logic Pro 9 on my Macbook (2GHz, 2GB Ram, 2.1 Model - Late 2006/Mid 2007), with 24 Live Rendering Tracks with little difficulty. Today I worked a session with 8 tracks whilst running my Maschine Stand Alone, MSN, Adium, Firefox and Pages open.

    Previously - IBM/Lenovo. Rock-solid reliable bits of gear. Had a T60 then a T61 - both great laptops.

Now - Dell. 2 days old and it's got a significant rattle coming from inside. Colleagues who've had theirs for 2 months have panels falling off the bottom. The fingerprint scanner is rubbish, Dell Control Point software is buggy, and the whole thing just feels cheap and tacky (although admittedly, it looks OK - E6400). I really can't see it lasting 2 years, and I really, really look after my laptops.

Oh and also, the trackpad is really bad. I want my IBM back. :(

Why would a business waste money on Macs unless they needed to run Mac os? They are over priced, and un reliable compared to cheaper alternatives. I cant be bothered looking for tyhe reference, but as far as warranty was concerned, Asus Laptops had the LOWEST return rate, followed closely by Toshiba, and it was either Dell/Sony that was 3rd. I can remember after that who was who.

After saying that, it is no wonder around My house there are only Asus/Toshiba laptops (I still have a WORKING Satelite pro 300CDS which is a P166 with 48MB EDO ram lol!)
I also noticed this fact after we only sent back ONE of the Asus laptops for repair - it was damaged after being dropped (blue screens e.t.c.) and was sent back for repair - with that fact stated. Asus returned it, no charge, repaired under warrantee.

Housemates laptop had the Hitachi drive die, sent the laptop in, came back with new drive, AND they had replaced the lid for free, as it was looking shit and all scratched (Completely his fault not thiers) but they took the tiem to do it :)

Asus Laptop, as I need a laptop.

Most others get desktop PC's that are assembled by the local PC shop that supplies all of our hardware.

I work in a School at the moment, and Apple have given us a deal that we can not say no to (but probably should have at the moment). We must have got them at close to factory direct prices, with the Govt incentives.
They came in a lot cheaper than the alternative PC notebook models.

    MacBook 6.1
    Processor 2.2GHz
    Dual Core
    2Gb Ram

Have learnt not to open too many things at once.

Lenovos, but unfortunately it also means we have to buy Lenovo everything and their large screen monitors are average at best.

    Laptops are good though.

We have a bit of a mixed bag, HP desktops and laptops, IBM server gear (x Series, tape drives and SAN). Our network is a combination of Netgear, Cisco and Fortinet.

I have my Toshi Tecra, and it is one of the best laptops I've owned.

EDIT: Poll needs to be multi-choice I think.
