I am using Nord vpn now -- I can get close to my full line speed (115mb) on local servers and they support torrents on all of them

    $99/ 3 years

    Hey Everyone

I currently have PIA, and I just switched to Aussie Broadband on NBN and I noticed when the VPN is on, I get terrible speeds, but its fine when its off

I have tried switching ports etc

    Any tips?

How is it setup? I'm with them as well and speeds are awesome.

Which server are you using also?

I use PIA and ABB, I get great speeds. Both the best of the best IMHO. The single exception that proves the rule.. Facebook is unusable while PIA is running. NFI why, and it doesn't bother me much...

Can't explain your own issue, sorry.

I get 55/1 mbit to eastern europe pia server on ABB. With pia off i can flood the connection quickly at 95/32
I dont mind too much though, its like a built in QOS on the download box. and i dont have to throttle anything for general surfing streaming...
It's a bit of CBF to change the server box settings too.

The recent cgnat changes at ABB really created issues for my torrents synology box.
Had that switched off and did a new open vpn setup instead of my old L2tp setup and now easily flood the 100/40 connection both ways on a good torrent.
Hitting 2.5 to 5 tb a month, 70% as uploads. One torrent i saw in the list tonight was 22gb down and 200+ up. Not bad for a bloody raspberry pi image :D

I had the same issues with PIA but I am with Optus. Speeds dropped by half with it on. Never resolved it and just cancelled the subscription in the end.

I'd place the blame squarely on the Optus connection.
I've been with Optus, never again.
The peak congestion is terrible, the international links pathetic.
Avoid at all costs. I'm happy to pay the extra $100 a year to have a solid connection with top speeds no matter what is going on.

Well so far it's been awesome for me touch wood. Average of about 95 occasional dips to 90 even during peak times. Today though they are having major issues.

Never had problems with Express VPN, including with Netflix and Hulu US - but they are not the cheapest.

ABB + PIA I cant complain too much :)

here's that Pi distro i mentioned yesterday. its uploaded a good 30+gb in the last 24 hrs, and it's an old image too (but a good one)
    22gb down and 268gb up - mental

PIA has been rock solid too. exiting out of a eastern eu country - uptime of 10 days, it drops occasionally, but its back in under 2 minutes generally
I just grabbed a pr0n torrent as a max out the speed test right now - crushing my 100mbit in peak times

you're a telstra shill so stfu - hell ,you even entered a Optus thread and started spouting your telstra love/optus hate

I use nordvpn + optus 4G, no slow down when torrenting
can test PIA and Torguard if anyone one is keen

Switched to ExpressVPN about 6 months ago and it's been outstanding. Great speed and no stability issues. Quite expensive though.
