You keep saying this, but the Quest 2 has 75% the resolution of the Reverb 2 - this may be a big deal for many.
The Reverb 2 also supports Windows Mixed Reality, has better built-in sound, and is not forced to login/integrate with Facebook - so there is that to consider.

Depends on how much lower-poly "mobile VR" you plan to play away from the PC, also Quest titles are separate purchases on the Oculus store: https://www.oculus.com/experiences/quest/

I sold my 1080ti and thought, I can't play my gaming PC but I will have the quest to play with until I get a 3080, no rush.
Now I've listed the quest in the hope that I get a close to "Free" upgrade to the quest 2!

Fair point, when you do the pixel math its a lot more then I thought.

Even so my point still remains, the Quest 2 seems like a much better deal.

The PC Link cable with the Quest 2 hopefully works nicely, and its 90hz!

Yeah if I had room I'd go HP for sure. This will be a test to see if I can use on PC in small office. If not back to loungeroom VR. If PC works out OK I'll upgrade down track.

I sold my Quest a week back, got a Quest 2 today for $180 cheaper. Seems mostly better in every way. The FB thing doesn't phase me. And hopefully it gets more development going forward especially with higher res and framerate. So hard to pass up that insane price. <$500 AUD makes it pretty damn affordable for everyone.

FYI for anyone buying there's a few known good USB-C cables that work well with the Oculus Quest that are MUCH cheaper than the official Oculus ones. Proxima and Fasgear ones I think (OzBargain list a few).

What was the release date of the quest 2?

I received an email with "Your Quest 2 is on the way!"

I wasn't expecting it until next month. The oculus page says October 16, weird.

    Maybe its a mistake.

1832 x 1920 per eye and 90hz. The first passable portable VR headset!

FoV unfortunately will be the same I assume. But I'm not planning to use mine for any proper VR, just beat saber and "experiences" etc. The Pimax is miles ahead of it, although I'm keen to try out Onward, without cables I can roll around the ground like a crazy person trying to avoid getting shot!

    Oculus Quest 2 64GB = A$479.00
    Quest 2 Elite Strap = A$79.00
Oculus Link Headset Cable = A$129.00
    Order Total: A$687.00

I normally wouldn't get the expensive extras, but because of who I'm using it with I wanted the best fit and a high quality cable in case of wear and tear.

The G2 smashes both the Rift-S and Index in these in-lens videos IMO, in terms of high detail, crisp text, bright colours, deep blacks and lack of god-rays...

Project Cars 2 - Skip to 6:30 for direct comparison.

Sorting out a refund with Oculus on my 3rd Rift S RMA now which still has shocking godrays. I think it just comes down to the lens design and some people (aka me) just notice it/can't tolerate it as well as others

HP Reverb G2 come at me! (pity the controllers are a step backwards from the Rift S)

Same, i had to RMA my S (for an issue which was really my fault, not a defect as such), they gave me a refurb which had a small but nevertheless noticeable defect on the left lens, so i really wasnt that much better off.

Roll on the G2! Though i do like the S controllers... hmmm
