It will run, but not super smoothly. I ran Alyx on a GTX 970 using a Valve Index with minimum graphics settings and it had slow downs that made me put it off until a GPU upgrade. The 1660 Ti is about 1.47x as fast, however, the Oculus Quest 2 has about 1.52x the resolution so I'd say it will run about the same. The interactivity is amazing though and I'm looking forward to playing it all the way through.

If you're not going to upgrade immediately, the simply styled games (like Beat Saber or Superhot VR) run well.

OK - So I will be hopefully getting my Oculus Rift S next week. Pretty much the only reason for purchase was for Half Life Alyx - but to keep the wife and child entertained, what are some suggestions for other games to get?

Beat saber is on the list.

They love scary stuff, shooters will be more for me - and I am sure the kid will love Minecraft VR.

I'm interested in playing VR Pinball when I get my Reverb 2, but maybe that's just me as someone who has always wanted to own a pinball machine but never actually have.

No Mans Sky in VR is awesome, Project Cars if you want to go for a race, highly recommend.
I don't usually do arcade type or kiddie games, mostly simming, but i very much enjoyed Robinson the Journey in VR, you and your children would love it if they like Dinos!
BigScreen Beta is free and you can sit yourself in a Cinema and watch movies, pretty cool.

Oh also if they like scary stuff, Arizona Sunshine

This youtube vid might help with an 8m cable with USB C to USB (not C) conversion. He also has options for USB ports. I wasn't aware that some of the new video cards come with USB C ports, but it makes sense.

So you do know that you don't 'need' the cable to play games you buy from the oculus store right?
However you personally need a cable because you 'need' to play games not in the oculus store (like Half life or Squadrons)?

Geez that was fast, who did you buy though?

I ordered direct from Oculus and mine is still in Singapore (ex-China), delivery has blown out from Monday to Wednesday.

The dramas continue. This has been the worst product set-up experience ever.

First it took forever to find a way to make the Oculus software/drivers actually install. Took seven attempts with things like manually setting directory permissions, disabling firewalls/antivirus, none of the normal recommendations including those types of things worked.

Once I eventually got it installed, I have since been completely unable to get data/video displaying on the headset from the PC. Audio works, and I can get controller motion, but no button inputs, and no video (guardian draws though - the headset is working).

I never liked the Oculus software or setup. Steam VR is so much better!
But trying to help, i had issues with my Rift display and i found if i unplugged the monitor it came on, tried that? It's annoying as hell but welcome to Facebook merchandise.

It took two days, but I eventually uncovered the problem: OBS 26.0.0 breaks the Vulkan driver. Upgrading to 26.0.2 fixed it.

It's just so annoying that the logs don't tell you anything that might be useful in diagnosing this.

I got a carrying case and an elite strap today. I guess the rest is coming in the Wednesday FedEx delivery.

Weird cos I also ordered the Link cable, but mine didn't come today.
