Not true in my case and for a lot of people. For me the immersion outweighs the 'low dpi low fov shite' by a long way.

I'm a professional pilot so I'm pretty fussy about these things... and I can't sim on my 4K monitor any more.

I don't mind if you wait another twenty years though, won't affect my enjoyment. :)

    Cheers,

Well i think current low resolution 2k sets are just not good enough for small distance details and cant stand screen door effect.
Dont care what yall say 4k 120-244hz will be the perfect resolution and fps for VR
Dunno why you early adopters are so vehemently defending outdated 1st gen tech when we have 3k phones and 8k screens?

    I've never used X, but I don't like X!

Vive/Oculus is a little lower resolution then what you might want.

The Vive Pro is great, if you used it, you would like it.

Pimax 8k just pure gravy at this point.

So you don't care what the people who have used it say?

Is there any reason we should care what you say?

I agree, that sounds great... but it doesn't exist yet.

I wrote about the headset I'm enjoying now, and why I'm enjoying it.

You have vehemently imagined me 'vehemently defending' it.

Why does my enjoyment upset you so?

Your ignorance doesn't upset me. :)

    Cheers,

lol nice 2d gamer chair text psychology dr phil

Didnt infer anything of that sort but ok ill bite
Basically 202x will be the period to get into VR proper, for current sim work its... okay but current GPU's and outdated screen and vr tech really isnt up to the task considering its almost 5+ years old at its core.

@those of you wondering if you should get into VR now like op just get something used/cheap and try it, if you hate it sell it on or wait like im doing.
Vive Pro is a fucking heavy helmet and still not that high resolution with all the issues current sets still have light bulky dumb erganomics and outdated wired only bigboi cables instead of using something easier to move around like a battery pack or some such

Because it's actually a pretty awesome experience. Visually tracking your enemies (DCS/Elite), flying into a Coriolis space station (Elite), or lining up to take off/land (DCS) in VR is fracking spectacular in VR, even with current resolution. Your mind quickly adjust if you let it.

There's actually more to graphics than pure resolution.

Yes thats great, but the limited Resolution and refresh rate ultimately hurt the experiance then you have bulky headsets that cost stupid $$$

Yep and despite these shortcomings many of us still find current VR fantastic.

So far we have many people who have used it saying it's great.

One person who hasn't used it saying it's terrible.

Over and over and over again.

i dont need to try them to know a low resolution screen with a low refresh rate below 160hz 1" from your eyes could use improvement.
Im all for early adoption but the tech isnt quite there yet for most people.

I must say, Vive/rift even now is very impressive, especially experiencing it for the first time. I got annoyed about the obvious pixelation, but bought it regardless. definitely good piece of tech. I would love to have 8k per eye and 240hz, but, it is what it is ATM.

I find the most painful part of current resolutions is anything that requires you to read text. It's rather aggravating trying to figure out what the text is actually saying in many games since they often make the writing too small to be comfortably read. Once you are actually absorbed in the moment of a game it doesn't make such a huge impact. (Rather like ultra settings in most games today ;))

Partially solved with the Vive Pro.

    Completely solved with Pimax 8k.

Try increasing the super sampling rate it helps quite a lot, although performance will take a hit. Your game should support it, otherwise you can set it externally with 3rd party apps you can look up.

I prefer lowering the graphics quality and enabling 1.5x to 2.0x super sampling on for some games with a lot of text. Works fine.
