I know there completly different. I payed more total of all my hardware when i could of got one of these nice compact imacs 2.2ghz c2d
I like macs. I have an emac with Panther on it and its so much easyer to use and at least doesnt get malware or randomly switch off in middle of a game.
The main thing is speed cause my system oc's to 3,6ghz:Paranoid:

I don't get *ware on my PC and it doesn't randomly switch off, so the latter.

    1. Only noobs get malware.
    2. Possible cause of your machine switching off
    a) Your overclock
    b) Bad PSU
    c) Bad cooling

I'm not sure, depends if you're in your mid-40's, wear a suit everywhere and enjoy spreadsheets or if you're a mid-20's, somewhat successful actor wearing "cool kid" clothes and growing slight stubble. Choice is yours.

I rarely say it since we are on an overclocking site buuuut. :D

Whats the point of your high OC?

Bragging rights? Get that extra frame for a game? IE and firefox can only browse the net so fast, overclocking it to 9000ghz is not going to make it browse any faster.

I say use the MAC which is easier to use and gets your jobs done faster.

    (yes I'm a convert ...).
As they said in Top Gun, I've lose the edge :), i'm happy to settle for the middle ground, got a MBP and am content.

Now i'm trying to phase out each of my PCs (use MacMinis) leaving hopefully one Linux box.
I find it refreshing when I dont need to think about BIOS's, PCI, drivers, updating my BIOS, installing some AMD driver, building my own pc, finding my parts ..(list can go on).

Well i love my imac... it does almost everything i want. The only thing it doesn't do is games, i mean it does but not as comfortably as the spec'd system.

BUT as i rarely have a chance to play games these days, and even if i did i should probably be spending that time on other things anyway... i dunno it's probably good that i can't play all the games on my mac.

I would prefer an iMac over your system. Less hassles!!

    hassles? What hassles?

I turn it on, and it works. flawlessly. every time. I render video in less than half the time it would take on an imac, then copy that video via eSATA to my external drive (once again, much faster than firewire) and take it to work.

Not only is it a rock solid workhorse, but it's also the perfect recreational system too. Crysis? no problems. HD-DVD? no worries. Oh, and if I choose to upgrade anything within it, I can without the "hassles" that an imac introduces.

I'm curious to know what "Hassles" you believe exist in PC land??

Unlike your riced up pc which will only extend your e-penis, macs will actually get you positive comments from non-geek people in real life. So I guess you could say it extends your real penis...

That said I have a macbook & an alu imac...

    lol.

Actually my computer is rather under-stated and certainly not "riced". Much less "in your face" than a giant aluminium powermac pro. And I don't need to compensate for anything :)

you're pretty cool, trying to justify your machine specs to a bunch of people who know more than you...

    powermac pro? lawl.

actually, you in sydney? i reckon my 3 year old g5 can out-render yours.

    If you've got a 640mb GTS in your system. I assume you're a gamer

In that case, the mac aint gonna cut it.

Unless you're gonna try and run windows on it.

I'm a pc man, cos I like to upgrade, overclock/get the most out of my system, play the occasional game and run all my MS apps + random apps.
