This was a brand spanker, sealed box.

What is also quite good is that you can pay Panasonic $159 anytime during the first year of ownership and have it Guaranteed for 5 years. I'll definately be looking into getting that also.

I saw the 300a, it looks like the plasma Viera series: in that its got that Black sort of glossy finish.

Or you can get that from the store you bought it from for $149.95, and not actually have to deal with Panasonic's atrocious customer support :D.

BTW, Southland has the last boxed one in Victoria if anyone's interested...

This is an excellent TV - I can vouch for it. Also for closer to the $3k mark you can get the Sony KVHR32M31 which has the Super Fine Pitch.. :)

Nine and Ten have been broadcasting movies in 5.1 for ages ... at least 6 months. Its only the big Sunday premieres tho.

LotR was the 1st broadcast from any station that I've seen set my DD5.1 flag off for a long time - a lot of 9 and 10 stuff comes down in DD2.0 which you may be confusing the 5.1 flag with IPfreely, but then again it's just as likely that I haven't been watching many big sunday night movies lately either.:)

i have seen quite a few programs with 5.1DD flags but only the left and right channels had audio signals, all the others were silent.. this is worse than broadcasting with a 2 chanel DD siganl since i can't activate PLII

I have the exact same issue, although my incoming stream is being flagged as only DD2.0 on my STB, but it still means I cant force it into PLII mode. :(

These TV's (KVHR32) are simply awesome, and are a fine example of a 'classic' sony product. I have had one since mid year (got it for $2900 from memory) and the picture quality is amazing (either with HDTV (1080) or DVD via component (progressive scan)). Unfortunately, most? of them seem to be setup by default with mega overscan. This can be corrected for free under warranty by Sony, gaining back 5-15% of your picture (and strangely enough, a further increase in picture quality). Definitely recommended

    Not strange.

Same amount of pixels in a smaller area produces higher-res picture.

Unless you want to use an xbox on it, then its rubbish. And possibly for future consoles too, because 60hz hdtv modes will probably be the norm?

Why the  ? I'll take that 15% improvement, I'd be able to notice it.

    KVHR32M31 (note the R)

Shits all over the pana. You may not want to go high def now, but in a few months time and when you test it with a box...you'll want it :) And it will look sensational.

Bargain around enough and you'll find it at around the $2500 dollar mark. There is nothing better than that in my opinion for the price range and type of TV you are looking at, without jumping to the KVHR36M31 :leet: But I'd jumping to a plasma at that price, but you'll wont get HD or the same quality of picture.

    I just bought a Palsonic 76cm (76WSHDA) HDTV for $1640.

    Great picture for the price

Certain stores just received a good group buy on them. Obviously wont be ticketed at that price, but everyone knows theres a difference between the price you pay and ticket price.
