Agreed  It's places like Aetherone's shop that other shops should be looking up to. One would hope that if all the shops did it manufactures would be forced to produce better quality panels at higher quality standards to save everyone the time and money. I realise one dead pixel is literally one in a million across the whole panel, but surely this is an issue that can be solved indefinitely?

    That's crazy

In the old days when Sony were the only ones offering zero dead pixel warranties (and you paid lots for it) you actually got zero dead pixels on 95%+ of panels.

genesis: we're most helpful if you're in Adelaide. PM me if you want to followup.
ps. fantastic customer service is not cheap.

How many of you have tried to fix your dead/stuck pixel and what were your results ?

In case you didn't know, you can sometimes fix bad pixels , see this wikihow article for details.

Manufacturers can't and will never (using this technology) LCDs to produce pixel-free LCDs.

That is why they are cheaper, and come with a 7 day pixel-free warranty.

    I really don't think it's fair for the manufacturer(s).

What happens to faulty LCDs anyway? Are they "fixed"? Or thrown away? Not really doing anyone any favours over 1 - 3 dead pixels.

There's a couple of endings for this one - one is the panel will be scrapped and the frame/reflector/electronics recycled into a new one. Alternatively the monitor may simple be resold - possibly marked as a known bad or into the market as a cheaper cat B panel (cat B specifications allow low numbers of dead pixels). A certain number will simply be repackaged and sold to the next sucker who doesn't see the fault.

    I bought a Chimei 221D on wednesday. 2 days later, 2 bright pixels :(

I dont know how people could not notice them, Mine's a bright green pixel that can be seen from a mile away.

Taking it back tonight for a full refund, don't even want a replacement. I think ill just stick with my 18inch LG untill i can afford something of better quality.

Via work, we've had hundreds of LCDs. In 3 years, we've had 1 stuck sub pixel. In the same time we've had 2 back lights die, these were swapped under warrenty, didn't bother with the stuck sub pixel.

Does your work go to the effort of specifically checking each and every panel for dead pixels, or do you just hand them out and let the customers find them?

    NECs, Samsungs, Viewsonics, Acers.
Spotting a stuck sub pixel on a black background or a dead one on white isn't too hard...

I've had a BenQ 19" FP937S for a few years now. Didn't get a dead pixel out of the box and still haven't got one.
