Just decided to do the group buys yesterday.

I don't think I've sent your envelope yet, I could hold off till this order arrives if you'd like.

Parts cost is $3.20 + $2.61 plus shipping from farnell, which when I last received something was around $9 for metro areas and more for remote areas.

I'm getting them for the same price (volume discounts don't apply from farnell till 100 I think), but sharing the shipping cost between multiple people, at a rate of $1 per 'set' (ffc cable & connector)

I'll do an order shortly as I have enough to go ahead with the first batch.

    How far off 100 ?
If you need to add another 10 or so to make it up to 100, count me in.

A long way! about 30 so far I think.

Actually just checked, the farnell cost break are at 50, but you only save ~45 cents or something.

If I make it to 50 then I'll pass on the 45 cent savings to everyone :)

You already sent them off, i'm looking at them now.
So the Cable/Connect is $7 per set? and if you reach the 50 mark i get 45 cents off per set?
Chuck me down for 2 sets.

Come on people let's get that saving, 2250 cents saved in shipping. :p

I'm sure at least someone here would be willing to sell you a prewired lcd.

If no one else wants to , I could probably solder one or two up for a fee.
Depends on what connection/interface you are after.

Futurlec.com sell one 2x20 lcd prewired to an idc connector

    http://www.futurlec.com/DevBoardAccessories.shtml (US$)

max orbital make some with a usb interface but not cheap.

Oh, btw, if anyone is interested in making one of these I have 7 PICs sitting here (PIC18F2550) that I don't think I'll use all of, I was hoping to trade someone a PIC or two for a PCB to put it on. Anyone interested? PM me, will sell a few too, if people want them.

I'm still hoping that microchip will add usb to one of the 24/30/33f or 32f pics.

The 32bit pics are so easy to code for.

The C32 compiler can be built for linux

Hopefully I'll get my lcds this week if Aus post decides to stop sending them back to Caffeine

Have a few cool things in mind, such as network stats for my smoothwall, load/mem/disk for my fileserver, mythtv status - hopefully things like currently recording show(s), encoding status, etc for mine and a friends myth boxes, without having to turn on the TV.

I would be interested in getting a batch of pcb's made, as long as someone pre-programmed the PIC for me, I am an ATMEL guy not a PIC guy.

If someone has the eagle files that would be great, I can just tweak them a bit for get some made.

As far as components I will price out the cost for a few units tonight, I have good wholesale sources overseas so should be able to get a good price.

Edit: I just looked and can get that pic for around $6.5au, so total components would be less than $10 plus pcb. Just need someone with a PIC programmer.

Location as in where I live?? Melbourne soon.

I might start a new thread, don't want to hijack Caffeine's.
I should be able to get some USB backpacks together for under $20ea (whatever the cost is, thats inc pic), all depends on how big the PCB is and how much interest there is.

I have done lots of production PCB run's before, so I know how to optimise boards to get the most from a panel :D
