Why aren't there any USB-C PD 'powerboards' yet?

The most I've seen is a dual USB-C output. Is there a reason why we can't have 3,4,8 port chargers?

    Is it:
    1. Lack of demand? USB-C devices are still in their infancy
    2. Technical restrictions? Is it simply not possible to have more than 2 because of power requirements or USB specifications?
    3. Manufacturers haven't had enough time to develop them yet?
I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

We've had USB A for 23 years now, that is a lot of legacy to leave behind. There are kids who have finished university now who are younger than the USB A standard.

1, 3, and cost/complexity - USB-C is very fiddly and the one connector to rule them all has actually backfired because there's such a variety of capabilities that you could implement (and screwing them up leads to confusion at best and fried devices at worst). Same reason why so few headphone/headset manufacturers have gone to USB-C as well for example.

USB-PD devices are an even smaller subset of USB-C devices - most USB-C devices do fine with a standard USB-A to USB-C cable, how many need PD watts? Macbooks/XPS laptops, some phones and..... um....

That's a fair point. I personally have 3 USB-PD devices. In our office, however, each person has at least 2. I can see how anything consumer is unlikely to ever need PD.

Personally, I think the USB-C plug is a spawn of the hard left-wing genderless brigade. They want the plugs to fit in whatever direction one chooses. The USB-C plug has a rebellious "anything goes" aura about it and it doesn't sit right with me. I much prefer the regimented USB-A connection experience.

Can you imagine how big a 4 port PD hub would be? it would need like a 300-400W PSU :D
A PD port needs to support up to 100W, so an 8 port PD hub would need an 800W PSU.
    Let that sink in.

Load diversity.. Same reason a power extension board with multiple outlets doesnt mean every outlet is able to be fully loaded to 10Amps all concurrently.

If someone NEEDs a PD hub, they probably need 60/100W ports. There's already plenty of hubs with shitty shared power limits.

WOW did you think that all by yourself?

I'm fucking impressed at such a complex and significant observation and critical analysis process, far better than anything from CSIRO lately?

How did reach such an incredible ideological ideal and that epiphany that shaped your current paradigm?

So as I prepare my application for the Nobel nomination for yourself is there anything we are missing that you feel may be important? There will be a lot of peer review, Cochran searches and comparative assessments of your profound and unique observations and works. This is very critical that it is noted now - otherwise it can be stripped at a later date and cause significant distress for your family/friends?!?

couple with a charger with a few QC USB-A ports and that should solve most needs. how many USB-C devices are there at the moment anyway? nobody is going to make a product nobody will buy yet.

That's not the correct question, the correct question is how many are PD
The topic is PD not the USB-C connector...

eventually, sure. demand will drive supply. but in the meantime, nobody is going to bring a product to market that won't sell because nobody has a use for it.
