Yes, and as far as I am aware it is limited to PAL models only (including all AU/UK/EU models).

Additionally, you are limited to 480i modes only (and 240p in Virtual Console for supporting titles). You can't do 480p/EDTV over SCART.

I've got that cable and can confirm it works and you are limited to 240p/480i. Although if you use a loader you can force 480p in Wii and GC titles just fine

That's interesting. I know the PS2 can do the same (force 480p over RGBS/SCART). Didn't know the old Wii could do that too.

Might have to play with a sync separator and see if I can get 480p RGBHV happening one day.

I'm actually 100% keen on getting RGBHV out of the Wii. Apart from a sync separator, I know you can mod the Wii to get RGBHV/VGA natively out of it. I think the hard and fast guide to get RGBHV out has been removed and I haven't found a definitive replacement for it.

I'm a newbie with this stuff. Are you referring to the Nintendont? If I wish to have this setup, should I get a PAL or NTSC Wii...and which version? Cheers

Yep USB Loader GX + Nintendont.

Id probably recommend a PAL Wii, though there are pros and cons.

If you plug rgb into a NTSC Wii everything will be red, and might drive you nuts, when configured, games will look normal through a loader but the system menus will be red.

When you load an NTSC game through PAL Wii you will have to toggle PAL60 mode so the NTSC games aren't red either.

Some WiiWare titles are region locked. You can flash the Wii to a different region, but I haven't attempted this.

Does the PAL Wii run slower than NTSC? I am trying to put together a system which will play the most number of ROMs for Wii and Gamecube. Is PAL the system I should buy?

I have a PAL Wii softmodded and it outputs 480p 60Hz and plays NTSC ISO's of both the Wii and GC variety, it also has a WiiDual and 480p is an option from the Wii Menu.

oh yeah so TLDR get a WiiDual installed and then softmod that sucker. :D Cables are just not as good, not even close.

    Sorry for the shotgun questions!
    1) Did you install the Wii Dual yourself?
    2) Which version Wii unit do you have
    3) Do you play GC games on a CRT or LCD. If LCD, is the input lag a problem?

they are currently on wait, however a reseller may have them. Worth the wait imo. I also had to send mine away to have it done.

100% true. But also 500% more expensive.

and possibly in my case 100% not possible... It looks like the wii's I have are not the right version...

Are the HDMI adapters that plug in the display port on the wii all that bad?

afaik those adapters are terrible, you would be better served getting an rgb cable + an ossc or retrotink.

I'm unsure about the compatibility but: https://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk...NINTENDO-PAL-GAMECUBE-N64-HD-RAD2X-HDMI-CABLE is basically a rgb cable + retrotink in one to get hdmi out

they are hideous and worse than even the cheapest component cables.

Rad2X looks great but availability is a nightmare, I want a Saturn one.

ah unfortunate, so i guess the next best thing would be rgbs cable + an actual retrotink?

Issue here is the retrotink (i think the pro does 480p but not the 2X) doesn't do 480p. Cheapest best result would be a quality component cables and a Porrta converter.
