    Hi,

Windows 10 has not been functioning properly:

    Issue:
    - files take an extremely long time to open
    - search function works but when i click on files in the search function they dont load/open
    - files on my desktop (even text files) take ages to open
    - note: embedded programs (e.g. steam games) work fine

Anyone have a solution or able to help?

In before all the derp heads saying "well your first problem is that you installed Windows 10 hurr durr".

Is your hard drive full? It sounds like a crowded HDD.

I generally keep a minimum 15% of my OS drive free to prevent things like this.

    Yea both have capacity.

I was just prompted to format my B drive which is my larger HDD (non-ssd)

Hmm. Check your task manager for disk usage at idle, see if anything is running that shouldn't be.

Checked startup to see if anything is running that shouldn't be.

Run the average MalwareBytes scan to see if anything is running that shouldn't be.

I've isolated the problem to my B: drive.

It's plugged in properly but I can't seem to access the drive for some reason.

It shows that the drive has no content on it and no available disk space. It appears to be formatted in "raw" also.

Looks like partition table corrupted, or hardware issue with drive itself.

TestDisk might be able to get the old partitions back.

Do this if you want to save stuff, or just format it again. Would also run the manufacture test tools on the drive to make sure its not dying a slow death.

Did you also assign it B: drive? cos its strange if it defaults to that.

Indexing is for searching only. Partition shows as RAW, meaning that the partition table has been lost/corrupted. Run seatools on it and see if the drive is still good. Short DST usually reveals most major faults.

I downloaded seatools and ran the quick test and it passed. I don't think i'm running the correct test though. Which one is it in the options menu?

I also ran the test drive check and nothing out of the ordinary

*EDIT: Running short DST now - just missed what you said before*
