    Since booting my PC for the first time in a few months, I let Windows Update do its thing, and since my Nvidia 1060 keeps displaying as an Intel UHD Graphics 630. In Device Manager, etc. I've tried uninstalling the device + driver (checked the box) and restarting. It goes to a Basic Device, and then auto-installs the 630 driver again. NVIDIA GeForce Experience and the driver for my device keep saying that they will not continue as they don't detect an Nvidia GPU.
    Next step I'm doing is updating the BIOS but I can't figure it out. I uninstalled previous versions of my NVIDIA driver.
    Note to others: If you are interested and/or are from the distant future, I asked the same question on NVIDIA's forums here: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforc...misidentifies-gpu-nvidia-installer-will-not-/

    BIOS may be damaged for some reason on the 1060. Windows is defaulting to the UHD630 instead. Might be recoverable with a GPU bios flash? You'll need to research this up though...

    If you have an Intel CPU, you almost certainly do have an Intel graphics chip built-in to the CPU. So the presence of that device is probably not the issue. You didn't happen to plug your monitors into the ports on your mobo instead of the 1060 did you?

    My money is on this + a loose card or missing power plug.

    OP: run this in CMD
    Wmic path win32_pnpentity where "deviceid like '%PCI%'" get name,deviceid

    Look for VEN_10DE

    10DE = nvidia. If it doesn't show a single 10DE it's simply not detecting - probably because of the above.

    I'm a bit embarrassed to say:
    Like many of you suggested, I had unknowingly plugged my monitor into the onboard card.
    ==BUT==
    That wasn't all! It still wouldn't work. This is the first computer I've had the graphics card connected to the mobo via a riser card, so I had to reseat the card. Now Windows detects it just fine and I am installing the NVIDIA driver.

    Sorry for wasting your time and thank you for the assistance! Gonna edit OP to mark it as Solved.

    I'd like to thank the academy. And my parents who never supported me. And OCAU for teaching me a quarter of what I know :")

    Happens to the best of us. It's easy to miss small but critical detail because you're focusing on the bigger picture (no pun intended).
