Hi, Just updated my PC to Win 10 from Win 7, all seemed to go smoothly, but now every so often my PC locks up and when i reboot, the SSD that windows has been installed on has disappeared from the BIOS.
If i swap the SATA cables with another disk, everything re-appears, but it keeps happening.
Suggestions anyone? i'll update my sig to current specs in a jiffy.

The drive in question is a Samsung 840 EVO 256 gb

I would start with updating the BIOS as well as the Intel chipset and RST drivers.

If its still causing issues, it wont hurt to install Samsung Magician to check drive health and SMART information.

Cheers FuRyZ, have started with the RST driver and used the Magician software to update the drive firmware which was out of date.

    so far so good...

First suggestion: Backup the HDD ASAP.

SSDs don't necessarily provide much time to recover data if/when they start going bad.

Seconded, definitely a good idea to have backups of anything important, just in case the drive ends up being the cause of the problem.

Cheers, Will do. There's not much of importance on this one, but will back it up nontheless.

The driver and firmware update does seem to have sorted it out though.:thumbup:

840 Evos were notorious for issues, had not one, but two firmware updates, that's two more than usual <:
    Was probably the issue.
I'm preparing to install Creators Update now on my main rig, let's hope it goes well ahaha.

I had an issue with my Asrock Z68 Extreme4, Win10 and Micron SSD (RAID/ACHI drivers) - Win10 generic drivers and aggressive bitlocker was causing system OS hard lock ups as the major issue but I figured it out.

Yours may have just been the firmware but here it is anyway.
