Which again is kind of ironic, given it has confirmed issues even rendering some of the PDFs on Microsoft's own site properly:

I tried playing the web version of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on Edge, and the visuals took me way back to the 1980s:

    Rasterrific!

Former head honcho of the Windows division Steve Sinofsky posted this on twitter today:

I don't think there's anyone left, bar the diehard fanboys, who are all that impressed with Windows at the moment.

I can't give a definitive answer, but I can't see why they would stop working - nothing in this S Mode FAQ to indicate it. The apps are connected to your Microsoft Account, not the device. The only restriction should be if you switched from Windows 10 to S mode, which can only run certain apps.

Not sure if you're serious, this is a known issue with Edge. The cable's fine, nothing else has ever garbled like that. Also, the only part of the screen that garbles is the rendering area of Edge - even the Windows prompts inside the Edge window are clear.

I even did a repair as recommended in the link above, and it still garbles:

    Fine.

I'm not really looking for a fix for this as I never use Edge. There's nothing wrong with my system, literally everything else works without a hitch. I just found it amusing.

Nice. It may well be that MS is so desperate for people to use UWP that they're leaving any and every loophole open.

As for jokes about IE, there was a time, just before Windows 10, when I seriously considered switching to IE as my main browser. It was becoming quite the fast and lean player, as Firefox was becoming bogged down. Then Microsoft made up my mind for me by deprecating IE and introducing Edge, Microsoft's answer to the question nobody every asked: "Can you make a sucky functionality-stripped tablet-oriented browser for my desktop PC, and riddle it with bugs?"

Where's this? Edge is a separate browser, Internet Explorer was ceased as of IE 11. Mine says Edge 44.17763.1.0. Interestingly, I just noticed that if I bring up a thumbnail preview in Edge, it shows ungarbled, but the main window remains garbled:

Possibly because it’s not using hardware acceleration for the preview?
