Hmm 124Mb .. I wonder if telstra will mirror it.

Is there a page somewhere that lists the changes made? So many people say to install sp1 and not sp2, how will things be with sp3 I wonder.

People say that? SP1 was a big peice of poo, it did nothing in reality. SP2 brought in a whole heap of fixes and compatibility updates. And i've been running SP3 since friday and it works fine.

    I recommend getting it :)

I've been runing betas and release canadiates for 8+ months now and it's ok. It fixes around 900 new problems. There isn't a list out from Microsoft yet... but when it does I'll link into this thread.

there was a leaked version on friday which funnily enough is the exact same file on the MS server. That's the one I got. I wonder why MS didn't release it then :\

Windows Update is updated about one day after it's offical release. This update, Service Pack 3, hasn't been officaly announced yet. Give it a day or to and it will be officaly announched and on Windows Update.

Would you be able to just update a fresh install of windows 2000 straight to SP3?

Does it contain all the updates that were is sp1 and sp2? Or do you need to d/l and install those if you want all the updates?

PS: I'm running XP, I'm just generally curious :)

Its used to show Related Links under TOOLS

The version in IE6 is not Adware/Spyware, the full version is
    Adware/Spyware.

Full version available from WebAccessories or home site.

That was cut and pasted from the microsoft.public.win98.internet newsgroup

The only bug that I'm aware of and affected from in Windows 2000 is a problem related to loopback throughput of TCP streams. In case any of you have ever noticed, if you setup a Apache or IIS server on your W2K box and try to download a large file from it, you will only get about 50 KB/s. If you download it from a networked PC, you will get 3000 KB/s or so. It was a known problem that affects localhost connections only.

The bug was introduced in SP2 funnily enough, but they never bothered fixing it until SP3. So here we go, that's prob the only change that I will notice.

    EDIT: Here we go:
294769 Data Transfer to "Localhost" or Loopback Address Is Slow
(dam that list of bugs was long)
