Don't like the hexagonal desktop skin much. Shit ugly.

Although I haven't used this device yet, notice how a lot of touch devices, video reviews actually document how quite often the touch interface isn't as accurate as one would hope. Notice how often the user has to double swipe or tap.

    looks good
    cant wait

although it doesnt look as "ooohhh pretty things" as the iphone, it looks alot more functional and im all for that

and owning an Omnia the finger friendly interface is very welcomed

While i like the look of it and previous Windows Mobile versions, i really wish they worked a lot more on how its performance is on mobiles. I like my animations and scroll effects to be smooth and not jaggy in transition.

I fear you won't get 6.5 for your Omnia. At least not as an officially upgrade. ;)

I tried one of the ones from xda developers the other day. It ran like ass, the scrolling was so chuggy it was unusable :(

Though I think that was not a true 6.5 beta and the start menu/home screen were a rip off.

Yep, I also follow up the discussion at xda developers. It's definitely not a release candidate.

But good to know that WM 6.5 will apparently run on all devices that run with WM 6.1.

Not only you. It seems Microsoft is losing massively marketshare with Windows Mobile. Apple overtook them within just 2 years, and I think even Android is now already on their heals. First look at 6.5 shows it's more a brushed up version of 6.0 than something new.

unforunately i think thats all it can be at the moment
Windows Mobile 7 will be a brand new product, not a tuned up version of 6.1

i think you also need to factor in that WM6.1/6.5 needs to be compatable with a range of devices, unlike Apple who make the software exclusivley for 1 hardware configuration so they can tune the software perfectly rather than needing a 1 size fits all approach

im using windows mobile 6.1 on my Omnia with SPB Mobile Shell and it works fantastically. I also prefer windows mobile over Apples offering because of the customisation that WM brings that the iPhone software can only dream of.

but im a bit biased, i work for MS :p
