On a normal system yes, on Azure... well they're still ironing out a lot of glitches years in. The leap day was the best one and there's been a swagger of them since launch which have been quite horrid. The most recent was only November last year and affected nearly every zone and nearly every app.

The Azure team really don't have staggered rollouts down pat yet, nor do they have performance sorted for low level instances. Amazon eat them alive in this regard.

Microsoft may be touting the "cloud first" mentality, but they're really lacking when it comes to agile development and continuous deployment. Their whole development methodology had been stuck in the waterfall model for so long that they're not experts yet at any other.

The Leap Day bug wasn't caused by a bad update though. The November outage was, but they were still doing a staggered rollout for it, the bug just wasn't picked up until they were a long way through the rollout.

They are miles behind Amazon though, I agree with you there.

For anyone who cares, you *may* need 2 reboots this month, Theres an IE patch that isn't applicable until after you have done (and rebooted) prior patches, depending on what services your running, you may need to reboot again after the IE patch.

Workstations hanging on "Configuring updates, Stage 3 of 3", a hard reboot brings them back, and the patch will install OK on the second time round.

Based on reports on the Mailing Lists and various forum threads, it seems to be impacting roughly 5% of PC's... No reports of any impact on operating systems that aren't Windows 7 though.

How's everyone's July Patching gone. No issue with my Pilot group so far I've completed Microsoft and Adobe Updates. Always nice to hear from a bigger sample size though.

Seems OK to me so far also.

Last lot of 2K3 patches is always a nice thing... People should be able to clear stacks of updates from their WSUS servers now :).

I haven't started mine, we always wait a week. Start rolling them out tomorrow night.

I have also see the advanced notification. Does sound like an RCE, might be coming out of the Hacking Team release.

We don't normally patch until the week after patch Tuesday, so I'm not double handling stuff for a change.

If it is RCE, I'll do the rush round for internet facing stuff tomorrow, and the rest can be patched on schedule :).
