I'm not suggesting anyone not patch... just that Day 0 (Patching on Patch Tuesday) carries more risk than Not patching on Patch tuesday (for most average patch tuesdays)

From Highest To Lowest risk, Here is how I would Rank.

    Never Patching
    Patching Yearly
    Patching on Patch Tuesday
    Patching Quaterly
    Patching a Week Later

I've not heard much around the traps for April

KB3126593 might cause some problems with clustering
KB3114996 Relies on other patches and can cause outlook to crash.

Isn't Outlook crashing so prevalant in patches nowadays that we're treating it as expected behavior?

Do you really believe that with a company the size of Microsoft that 3 months isn't sufficient to be able to patch and regression test?! It's an automated process!

Regardless, most of the QA issues haven't been related to faults Google have found anyway.

Microsoft have nobody to blame but themselves and lack of procedure.

They moved that to second place because it's not a mobile cloud.

0 day patching is for fools. If only they'd waited a week.....

It's fucking sad that waiting to see if something is broken is preferable to patching identified issues immediately.

The 1511 discs accept 7/8 keys though... Are they seriously still going to end free upgrades after changing the installer to accept the older keys?

As for the GWX nag screen - don't expect it to stop. It'll start trying to sell Surfaces after the free upgrade ends.

Well the installer accepts the keys, but the activation server doesn't have to sign off on it..

True... But it won't be a good look for them if they block them like that. Of course they don't seem to mind that much if they piss people off.

If They had waited a week it would still be broken.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3159706 is the fix, but it requires some manual steps afterwards to complete. So anyone who looks after a WSUS server on 2012 should be aware of this.

May updates today. No noise yet.

The supposed fix KB3159706 breaks WSUS as well

    https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/wsus/2016/05/05/the-long-term-fix-for-kb3148812-issues/

My process was I skipped KB3148812. I updated today and KB3159706 was installed.
I then couldn't open the WSUS Console.

    Ran
    Code:
    C:\Program Files\Update Services\Tools\wsusutil postinstall
which took a few minutes and rebooted and console working again.

Does everyone read every patch note cover to cover? I never used to but am certainly heading that way now.

I used to flick through a most of them a long time ago. But now half of them just say "this fixes problems" and nothing else.
