As mentioned in the report on Windows Vista Service Pack 1, release to manufacturing (RTM) means exactly that - Windows XP Service Pack 3 has been finalized and is now released for manufacturing, and to the OEMs for integration with their systems.

Will SP3 really bring anything new?

Anyway I'll need to keep an eye on this so when SP3 is released to the public I don't forget to update all my machines. :) It's coming much later than I expected, though.

There are lists of what previous released RC (Release candidates) covered but they may be adding extra updates/fixes to the final RTM, that should be posted when RTM is available to OEM/Partners etc..

When you install SP3, does it prompt for your license key number?

    No it shouldn't vista sp1 doesn't and the xp sp3 beta didn't.

edit- although it might check if you have a cracked/ illegal copy then ask for a license key.

hopefully you can order a cd or download a iso of xp with sp3 integrated from microsoft. it would be mad if it has a bunch of drivers so you can just install it on older pcs and have everything working

    Try 7 years.

Seriously, it's just an operating system MR CHILLED. And not that much is going to change with SP3.

What are you doing in this thread then? I don't understand your comment at all.
It's not about what's going to change, it's just a SP afterall, it's just (for me) about consolidating all of the previous fixes into one nice XP install.

You just seemed a little overexcited about the release of XP SP3 and somehow I got the impression from your post that you felt it was going to change xp in many different ways.

    That's all. I wasn't flaming you mate. ;)
