Can't believe there isn't a thread on this.

Only played the demo but I haven't played anything this good since IL2.

Menu and keybinding is a bit clunky, the voiceovers are pretty bad. The gameplay and graphics, however, are amazing.

The new IL-2 by Maddoxs is coming out soon. Its called Storm of War: Battle of Britain. I believe Bird Of Prey is made by a different company but looks similar.

That was sposed to come out in late 2007/early 08. Not sure what the delays were, sorta lost interest. Oleg crashed his car again? That was the last excuse used when a game fell behind.

Wow if the video is anything to go by, I love what they've done with the ground detail!

Going to have to give the demo a go in the next couple of days and see how well it goes in Eyefinity. :D

Graphics are excellent:) The voices are crap, flying with the RAF and the copilots are all yanks...
Not sure what I make of it so far, seems realistic but a few things are annoying, the menus suck, you get auto bailed if your badly damaged and the chute always opens even at 600kph... One thing I liked about IL2, especially online was fighting on, even with half the plane shot away, then trying to get out of the burning wreck and hoping your chute opened in time, or avoiding some filthy player from nailing you afterwards..

Hmm 1.36GB seems a lot of dl for a demo

Arghh the full retail weighs in @ 6.19Gb for $50U$

Having played both versions now it's almost identical to the console version (IL2: Birds of Prey) except you can up the graphics a fair bit, and AA. Apparently you get a finer physics simulation and new missions but so far it's been the same.

It is by no means as hard as the first game at all though, even on simulation mode.

I tried that, you need to go through Yuplay at the moment.

The good news is some hackers found some Steam files built into it, so hopefully it'll come out on that with the demo.

Enemy Bombers are far to easy to shoot down, even on the Sim setting. In IL2 nailing a HE111 was an achievement (as they were a pig to bring down in real life due to the design of their bullet reflective wings), nailing 2-3 was remarkable. In WoP can fly through a formation and send 5 to the ground in a single pass while suffering minimal damage.

Also annoying how the demo keeps resetting my control configs each time I quit:(

The console version was very much arcade. Have you turned on realistic gunnery? Aparently the pc version was more of a sim but don't think it is all the way as far as IL-2 1946.
