Anyone have any experiences with lighting options for a work bench setup roughly 1.5M wide. I’m redoing my whole setup with new lighting and tooling. I have just deployed 2 x Elgato Keylights and been pretty disappointed with their output but nice light coverage (Roughly 40W rated output each).

Now looking at a Neewer panel light at 150W to do the bulk of the work but it would be about 1.2M above the bench so might not spread light nicely…

Not seeing a lot of clear cut work bench specific lighting options. Must be flicker free for video recording and ideally adjustable output… I have gotten away with Bunnings flood lights etc in the past but flicker interference etc has been problematic at certain angles.

Can't comment specifically on panel lights that are camera friendly though doing something similar recently we've landed on 300x300 light panels to be the option. But you'll have even more options if you use the typical half ceiling panel light size (either a 600x600 or 1200x300), ended up compromising on light quality (I did want high CRI lighting but options are thin in 300x300 and we had other requirements).

I'd say that plus a work lamp on an arm would be a good combo.

At home I have a reverse setup, I have ~600mm wash lights on a lamp arm and then a GU10 spot hitting the main work area on the desk about 1.xm up, but I only really light up about 1m of the bench for work at a time. GU10 and MR16 is easy to get good quality stuff in, so perhaps a whole array of the MR16 with flicker free drivers would also be an option (or LED downlight modules)

I just used a car LED bar. It's a 'get fucked' amount of light - no shadows! You don't get the customisation/video friendliness though, for sure

Thats actually a decent idea, being DC id assume they don’t flicker at all except PWM switching which would be high frequency

Yep. It had a Meanwell 10A PSU into a "100W" (labelled, draw was more) 4-foot bar. You don't get the temperature selection, nor highlighting, but you get gobs of light and no flicker (on that setup, at least).

Hung on two ultralight chains from the roof. I started out with it on rope/pulleys for flood/concentrate light, but gave that away and ended up on the fixed chains.

I miss it, it worked well. Ended up giving it away at some point when we moved
