Okay, heres my first attempt of a worklog. i really dont know what im meant to do but yeah. Ill give it a shot.

Case bought off Yoodaa. Nice tall case. Lots of space to work with.

Side of case with panel off. Lots of nice room. Mid mounted psu.

    Back of case. Plain ;)

First cut. Holes into front casing.

    Holes into front panel.

Blowhole pvc pipe fitted for testing.

Enough work for today. Having some PVC piping cut properly by a mate and ill probably continue tomrrow. I might start my bondo work. Anyone got any bondo tips? Do i prime first? or bondo then prime. Then when do i use the spray putty...

    Thanks

bondo, sand, bondo the gaps, sand, spray putty, spray putty, spray putty, sand, spray putty, spray putty, spray putty, sand...

its extremely time consuming and quite tiring(you get really tired from sanding) DO NOT DO LARGE COATS WITH SPRAYBONDO... if you cover an entire area(i.e. you cant see the bondo color underneath) then you have done too much and it will run... spray bondo runs waayyy too easily, better off doing 3-4 coats and then sanding back then doing 1 and having it run...

also, spray bondo smells really wierd

    after that, primer

lol, dont use up the whole tin
just as much as you need, i have a big 1kg tin at home, and its lasted me through 5 projects so far, with fairly liberal layers of bondo.
yes, spray bondo is spray putty.
the 50:1 is just a guestamate, you can really just put in as much as u think is right, mine usually goes a vibrant pink colour when im finished mixing

Okay...thanks for that. Ill see how much i can get done tomorrow.

Im getting some awesome paint mixed up at work.. Black with a red pearl with metallic flakes in it, so ill see how it turns out. A mates then gonna use his brothers airbrush to do my panels after im done with the priming. Is it worth investing in those big halogen lights with stands to help to dry the primer/bondo faster?

    Cheers

    Bottom blowhole put in...

First time using bondo..went a lil crazy..

Body filler! :)...got it for about $5 from work

    Dried bondo...messy as hell

    Sanded bondo...getting dark :(

    Second layer of bondo...

nice start mate, make sure you only apply the bondo where you need it as it will take you more time to sand back the bondo after where it wasnt nessasary.

Cheers man...yeah i put on heaps to try and cover the channels in the panel. After the first layer of bondo it was stil there..so i went over it with a thicker one.. Im not all that worried about sanding anyway..just as long as my case turns out as planned..

nice work so far... how old r u mate?

looks like you put just the right amount of bondo on, but i suggest you use a paint scraper to apply it, itll make it alot more even and help you with sanding.

oh, and a suggestion... unless you have some brilliant idea, black paint is usually a bad idea, its too overdone...

Im 17 mate..always liked the concept of modding as im into cars (hence my work at autobarn)..

Yup..black with a red pearl and metallic flakes looks good to me at the moment. i know ill probably have some overspray in some areas as im an average sprayer...but i have a mate whos brother airbrushes cars who said hes happy to do it for me. Would save a lot of time and effort.

    cheers

    Back again :)..More pictures..

Bondo sanded with a few dents...

More bondo to surround the lower blowhole...

    Even more bondo! :)

Fans sitting on top panel where i want them..

    Extreme bondo action!!

Holes cut for top fans... You can see i tried to sand some of the existing enamel off with no luck..im going to have to prime straight onto the old enamel...

Trying to sand down the excess bondo...

You can see i have a lot of dips in the bondo around the blowholes that i was unable to get rid of, so ill have to fill it with ..bondo!

Some spray putty for trial..never used spray putty before and i wanted to see how it would turn out with the deep cuts around the holes..

Starting to look a little bit better..should look a lot better tomorrow after i wet sand it...

    Screwing the handle into place...

Anyway..thats all for today..ill wetsand it tomorrow..and see how it goes..

    Will post more pics :)

    Feel free to comment..

    Cheers

Didnt get as much done today as i would have liked.. Worked from 11-5 today so i had plenty of time to experiment with paints and flakes and ive finally decided on my paint.

Its a deep black base with red pearl paint and red harliquin flakes so on an angle its a metallic red while looking straight at it, its a blackish colour.

couple more pics to update...was in the garage from 6.30 til 8.00

Shit shot of the paints 2nd coat..the nozzle fucked up...and theres drops on the panel...so i have to wait til tomrrow to get a new nozzle.

    Stupid nozzle....

Bought more bondo..added more bondo...sanded more bondo...still needs a bit more bondo..

Justa basic shot of how it looks so far...still needs a fair bit of work..how do people get the bondo even?

Yeah..so thats it for today...didnt do much..not sure if i can do much tomrrow either as im working 10-5..oh well..

    Catch..
