hello, im currently in the process of buying a Cpu for my htpc and i need to know something.
this mobo is a MSI PM8M2-V using VIA P4M800+VT8237 chipset. i need to know if it can actually run a dual core cpu. if it can't read both the cores, then can it read at least one of the cores. reason im getting a 805 is because it is cheaper then a single core 630.

i've never had any experiance with via chips b4 so i would appreaciate it if some1 could shed some light on this.
    thanks

That mobo doesn't have the proper electricals to work with some Extreme Edition CPUs, "Cedar Mill" CPUs and Dual-core (Pentium-D) CPUs. There's simply no point in getting a Pentium-D with this mobo.

Look for another mATX mobo. I'm thinking you're trying to go for a "cheap dual-core" solution, yes?

Then go with an brand ASRock mobo. (They're the budget branch of ASUS...But surprisingly, some of their products rival more expensive solutions!)

Check their Intel CPU Related Support List in the Support section.

I'm not gonna do all the work for you, so you need to click on each mobo and see if it works with Pentium-D 805. :)
