Proudmoore! man the servers crashed so much that day, zerging the 3 colossus i think they were (the huge aq bugs) as their hp didn't reset after a raid wiped on them, good times.

While this train of thought was definitely accurate 10 years ago, I'm glad they finally changed their stance. Yes, I've been disappointed in expansions (none so much as BfA though), but I've still enjoyed my almost 15 years in the game (Dec '04).

Aaand this thread is now 10 years old! :p

It's a shame they couldn't take us all the way back to 1.1.1, but close enough. I'm at least happy to have pet management mechanics back. Also can't wait to start getting back into Honour ranks!

They could take it back to the very original WoW. But chose not to because it was buggy as fuck, and not enjoyable to most.

IIRC it was explained at last year's Blizzcon that they couldn't go back earlier because they could not locate a complete and working backup of the game older than 1.12, and at that 1.12 was found to be "in a back up of a backup", so it was a stroke of luck that they found it.

Wow died to me when dungeon finder and teleportation shit arrived, i missed the social find a group through chat and spend 4 hours to get to and start one dungeon. So tried classic, sorry the graphics are so bad i just can't get past it and enjoy gameplay, wow i forgot what it looked like. :(

I would be nice if you could get into it casually without buying 100 expansions.

Pretty sure you only need an active subscription and buy the latest xpac: subscription will open everything up before it.

This is correct. Considering there is 120 levels, you won't even need the current expansion for at least a couple of weeks.

Just buy shadowlands pre-order deluxe and get a 120 boost and start at the top? It's damn good value because a 120 boost is normally $80.
It also comes with a months game time, mounts, pets and other shit.

If I was to go that route, I'd wait until Shadowlands drops and play the game with the new leveling system.
