Mate and I checked earlier, no dice. Unless you opted in for the e-mail you may not receive one, so you can check the Microsoft Connect site direct, and see if there's a welcome message for you there...

Checked there are well earlier and nothing. I opted in for the email, so hopefully will get something.

Was just hoping that someone would say yes and give me some hope for the people outside the US.

Yes i got my email, haven't switched on the xbox 360 yet :D muahahaah

    edit:

Just booted the console, got an update but its not the end of year one with twitter/facebook and all that jazz yet.

The one they are handing out is the one that is going to be available on August the 11th. I won't go through the details as most of the features can be found here: http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=797168

This is part of the email you get:

The way major nelson is talking the preview program was for the August 11 upgrade, which is a bit silly..i hope the preview program includes the second update coming later this year. Otherwise its a waste, considering the update is due in the next couple of weeks.

no email, but got the update when I turned the 360 on...
the only changes I've noticed is the netflix update (which is freeking sweet :D ) still annoying that its not more integrated as a channel though, but meh... games on demand is "coming later" ...

Got in.. No email or anything jsut downlaoded the update when I turned the 360 on.
Nothing really differet... things I have noticed:
Sound effects in dashboard slighty different, in 'my xbox' you can now view a solutions tab. Like a softcopy manual kinda thing. You can now clear the xbox 360 cache (temp files) by pushing 'Y' on the hard drive in system settings and selecting 'clear cache'.
There's an avartar marketplace, in avatar editor theres an "awards" option that says 'unlock avatar points by playing games'...
theres other stuff just can't think atm.

*shrugs* i was hoping for this preview program to be for the final end of year update...not the one that is due out in August...half the stuff doesn't work anyway...or at least isn't active.

Hmm average update. Only thing I'm interested in now is the Awards. Other than that, it's pretty much the same.

Is the Games on Demand section there ? If so, can you post all 30 launch titles ?

360 updated with the update. If you got the preview for this one does that mean you'll get the preview of the next one as well?

You will get all the updates until the final release on August 11th. The next update will require you to register again....unfortunately :( :(

While being in this one is nice, i want to be part of the one with twitter and facebook!

Yeah especially considering the most significant new feature, games on demand, doesn't really work yet as there are no titles :p As much as I enjoyed previewing what my avatar would like like with an eye patch, it has been fairly pointless. Anyone tested out profile recovery? I often recover profiles between our 2 consoles but haven't had a chance to test out how much faster it is now.
