Thanks mate. The sandvich is gone unfortunately.:(

Trying for a more conventional approach.

Gonna put a 280 rad up top for the cpu and a 140 at the front before it goes into x fire blocks.

I'm in 2 mind wether to keep the sift microres and EK-DCP 4.0 pump.

It seemed a bit whinny or vibrating every now and then. But I did not have it mounted on a proper ek mount.

Nice sandvich. Did you reckon a 355 will be strong enough for a sandvich, 5970 block + cpu block?

Heres a pic as promised of my second rig i just finished today, i will paint the inside one day when i have more spare space to be able to lay it out and take my time but the bare grey does not bother me too much.

Cpu is a Phenom2 555 unlocked to quadcore and overclocked stable at 3.7Ghz, videocard is a 4870 with Swiftech block, swiftech gear is not as well made as it once was i was quite disappointed in the quality of the product but it does the job.

My old RIG, now air cooled as I build a i7 2600k, was a lot of fun and great temps with CPU, 2x GPU's on a Thermochill PA 120.3 but the real deal sealer was the 3x Scythe Ultra Kaze 2000's! ....... what?

    New loop with GPU installed

    Temps go as idle/load

    CPU - 37C/45C
    GPU1 - 39C/51C
    GPU2 - 38C/49C

I was gonna put in another GTX295 but it has micro-stuttering issues when I play games, i do notice it and it shits me

Noobie question for those with top mounted rads..

With your fans mounted underneath the rad.. Isn't it either pushing hot air through the rad or sucking fresh air through it??

Depends. I have a 360 up top with bottom mounted fans blowing out and my system doesn't break 50C even on a hot day. Have cpu and 2 6870's in the loop.
The only heat in there is the secondary heat from the other bits and pieces, but with a front and side fan blowing in and an exhaust fan on the rear, the air going through the rad wouldn't be that warm.

I send case air though my top mounted rad, the temp sensor I have up there only ever reads 1'C (max) above my room's ambient temperature. In my experience, I get better performance doing this than trying to feed more air into my case through the rad as I can't exhaust the air out of it quickly enough. The positive case pressure kills my airflow. I could always flip some intake fans around, but it's not worth the hassle.

My first time water cooling, runs really silent.

Before and after pictures of what I did on the weekend. The picture on the left is 3am Friday night, the picture on the right is 6pm Sunday.

This rig is at my retreat so I only really have time to make more modifications on weekends and public holidays, I'm planning to add a few cathods and sleeve some cables this weekend :)

Can any of you WC gurus tell me if putting a Y splitter on the tube coming from the Rad to divert flow to the CPU and GPU simultaneously would be wise? Or go RAD->CPU->GPU->RES? Pump would be a D5 with a Hardware Labs Black Ice SR1 420 radiator. I may have room to chuck another rad in for the GPU but not keen on it (then it would be PUMP-RAD-CPU-RAD-GPU-RES). Specs in sig, GPU will be different (maybe a dual GPU fermi or one of the next gen cards to come in late 2011).
