Far be it for me to forget about Avalon.. oh hell no..

Here's a selection of my favourite images from the 5th biggest airshow in the world.

I must say that I wasn't that impressed with the F35, before the airshow, but now having seen one in action and it's full burner takeoff.. my ear drums are still recovering. 40,000lbs of thrust from a single engine.

I spent 3 days in a paddock with friday and saturday being a killer with heat and sunburn.. Sunday wasn't so bad but by that stage I was almost over it :)

    Full albums here.. https://www.flickr.com/photos/vladdo/albums

    Anyway, without further ado..

Rainbow smoke and the ones after it, cloudy plane pics are so cool

BTW whats the clouds around the planes?

The clouds and "rainbow smoke" is caused when air pressure suddenly drops, causing condensed water to appear. It basically happens when an aircraft has a high angle of attack and rips through high humidity air causing it to 'rip' and generate instant water vapour. The 'rainbow smoke' is just very fine water vapour that is backlit by the sun which causes a rainbow like effect. Friday was very humid so any of those fast jets got a lot of vapour.. it was awesome :)

The F35 is australia's newest $90 million a plane.. It's set to replace all the older hornets at some point in the future. But it made it's australian debut at avalon, along with the FA-18 Growler and PC-21 Trainers.

This is the F-35A Lightning II

Totally photoshopped. You can tell by the fact that it looks like those F-35's are actually flying.

I think that's one of those situations where you sit there staring at them both wondering which one to have printed on canvas and put on the wall and go screw it, I'll just have both

Only need one.. The pilot doing the display found my photo, told me he wanted it for his office so we did a deal. My jpg, and i'll send him a print which he can sign. So it now hangs with my Roulettes pic on the door to the mancave.

My wife's best friend's husband, bizarrely, works at 6SQN and sits about 10 mtrs away from 'Helmut' (the pilot) and was quite shocked that my photo is a 4ft wide canvas that hangs as his pride and joy in his office. Small world lol..

The upshot from all of this.. the powers that be.. have been watching me from afar and something massive could come my way at some point in the future. Fingers crossed that it pans out :)

I so want to go next airshow.

I went in 2001? and it was the best thing ever for a 14 year old.
