Ive heard word of a wheat beer being stocked in the stores, anyone seen it or consumed it? I love wheat beers and am keen to try pretty much anything in that category.

Is it a state to state law? We have 2 Aldi stores in Penrith, there's a standalone one in a little complex of shops and they sell alcohol, there's another one in Penrith Westfield and they don't sell it.

Yeah it's a state to state thing. In QLD you aren't allowed to sell liquor in the same space as a supermarket so we don't get Aldi Liquor :(

Yeah the shopping centers like Westfield etc don't allow it for some reason

its the same in Blacktown, the one in Westpoint doesn't do Alcohol but the standalone ones around Blacktown do. The only liquor store in Westpoint is BWS, not sure why Woolworths were allowed to sell it but noone else *shrug*

That is just licencing and placing restrictions on how many and what kind of stores are allowed in the centre :)

Fair enough, I know they banned the sale of cats and dogs from the petstores which I personally applauded.

Anyway back to the Aldi chat!

Their budget Garlic bread is good. I had bought budget garlic bread from coles and woolies with negative results. This stuff is pretty on point, and south of $2

their $10 pre made lasagne aren't great though.

Is it individually wrapped or in blocks? I like the individual wrapping (bad for the environment I know, but I need the portion sizes!)

Individually wrapped as per original Moser Roth, the premium is a single origin chocolate. The Ghanian and Peruvian are both excellent.

Tried the garlic bread - brilliant

The beer battered hoki portions are pretty tasty also

has anyone tried the brand of peanut butter Skippy (you get it from Costco) and can compare that with the peanut butter they sell in Aldi??

I'm thinking of ditching my Costco membership, and Skippy is awesome, so I'm looking for a suitable replacement

Make your own peanut butter... dead easy, cheap as and you can make it exactly as you want it to be.

Have you tried the American-style PB at Woolworths? It's pretty awesome...

Anyway, also got the Moser Roth truffles (think Lindt Balls) and they are excellent as well. Aldi just basically shit all over Lindt with this range, and give a few Haighs products a run for their money...
