A new thread every week where you can post a shot for the week.

It may be your favourite for any number of reasons, ie technically good, a favorite model, or even just because it's different to what you normally shoot.

Add the story that goes with the picture if you like but it's not necessary. It's just an excuse to post a picture that you'd like to share.

Feel free to ask for a critique if you like and comment on other shots if you wish.

    Seagull by Standout Photography

Still really early days with photography, i think i had only owned my camera for a couple of weeks, my first ever DSLR. Was there to practice shooting my mate surfing at stockton beach when i saw the seagull land, he then turned his head to look at me...
I managed to get my focus point directly on his eye and the frame was centred on the seagull, no cropping or horizon altering needed. Shot at f5.6 the depth of field looks good, even though i had the option of shooting at 2.8 on my newly acquired Nikkor 80-200 AF-S 2.8 (my now favourite lens).

Been having some fun with my 135mm Ai lens. Light. Sharp. Creamy.

Pity (for you guys, maybe) my only subjects are my kids.

I know another picture of my daughter again this week. Too bad.... I am thankful I have got into photography. I see my friends post pro photos of their kids on Facebook. But I get to take these types of pictures of my daughter all the time.... One day I will even dress her up and do her hair for a decent shot.

The ones you take have more weight though :) Your daughter also shares the experience of having posed for dad.

One from a PFRE shoot this week... It is, unfortunately, the most interesting thing I've shot this week... I'm happy with the shot though I guess..

    D800, 20mm f/1.8 @ f/11

Single exposure, 5 speedlites, metered to put the windows in the high range of the shot, speedlites all running in wireless remote (Nikon CLS - AWL) and adjusted from the camera body...

This was my first time using AWL as opposed to radio poppers and optical triggers. The reliablillity was a little lower than RF however when everything was set up just right it was amazingly helpful being able to adjust the two groups of flashes without leaving the camera..

I grouped the 5 speedlites as "near"(3) and "far"(2) depending on where they were and the gradual change in brightness throughout the room (camera position was considerably darker than the main living are) and had the near group at 1/2 and the far group at 1/8 power
