Yeah tell me about it. :wired: Fortunately for me I had $200 worth of eBay gift cards from my Birthday/Christmas so that softened the blow quite a bit. :)

    Admin note:

Cleaned up a few posts that were getting heated. The Retro forums have a great little community going, let's keep that level of fellowship.

If there are money issues going on from trades or giveaways, PM Agg.

Otherwise, be excellent to each other.

Jealous!! What can you run with 128K though, do you have any RAM expansions?

Anything written around it's release and availability (1984-1985) should run. There was of course quite a few well known titles such as Kings Quest I and II which made use of the PCjr's video and sound capabilities but yes at 128k is it quite limited.

I do have an IBM 128k RAM sidecar expansion which is faulty however it should be an easy fix as there isn't a lot to it component wise. I plan on doing the 512k expansion mod to it which will boost the total memory to 640k.

A little tip, when buying a PCjr try and get one with the RAM expansion sidecar included as they seem to rarely come up for sale separately and when they do they don't sell cheap. There is however a modern alternative in the form of the jr-IDE which adds a lot more features than just extra RAM but it's not cheap.

Yep, got my eye on this which already has 640K via a modded sidecar by the looks of it.

    And I've just secured this

That PCjr looks great and having the sidecar already modded is a huge bonus! Good luck with the auction.

Very nice! Looks in great condition.

As ungainly as they are I've got my eye on grabbing at least one joystick and I'll keep an eye out for any nice cartridges. The game collector in me is loving the look of the packaging they came in such as this one here.

They've had the e-waste bins at work for the last few weeks. Retro stuff I rescued: Apple extended keyboard 2, 2 mirror door G4's, 2 laptops: Acer TravelMate 620 (windows XP era), Asus PRO31P (too modern to be retro, seems like a decent laptop in its day). Some old IDE hard drives and a couple of video cards, 64MB EDO ram. Non-retro: newer ram and some SSDs. 1TB hard drive from a fetchTV, 2 HP i5 machines and a bunch of DDR3 ram to upgrade them. a 2011 iMac 21.5" and 8GB of ram from another busted iMac that is now in one of my Mac minis (upgraded from 4GB).

Most of the good finds are stuff you didn't even know you wanted!

I just paid top dollar for a Sony Trinitron 68CM TV
(well top dollar being $40) it's a little beat up and missing remote, but tube is perfect so it seemed ok for a 68CM flat TV with a decent picture) Now to find a desk strong enough to hold it, and get though all my light gun games and watch some OLD VHS tapes!

NTSC. I've given up on PAL. Besides, the colour funtastic's in PAL and US are too late a revision for RGB (simple) modding, and I want to drop a UltraHDMI kit in this at some point. $150 for the console locally, $50 for the RGB board, $70 for install.

Because I need some form of csync in order for it to work with my BVM-D24. Furthermore, the current RGB boards can turn off the N64's god awful horizontal anti aliasing which improves picture quality somewhat as well. Not sure what I should have done here? lol.
